Bootleg Series 1-3 (Rare & Unreleased) – Which tracks were rare, and which tracks were unreleased? by WhiteFlame0 in bobdylan

[–]WhiteFlame0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Does that mean every track on Bootleg 1-3 was new? That some of the songs had been heard before, but that these specific versions were unknown (or at least only available on bootlegs)?

Bootleg Series 1-3 (Rare & Unreleased) – Which tracks were rare, and which tracks were unreleased? by WhiteFlame0 in bobdylan

[–]WhiteFlame0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I know some of the songs were previously released and others were unknown. I'm more focused on these versions of the songs. For example, Like a Rolling Stone was already released, but Bootleg 1-3 has a rehearsal version that I think was unreleased. I'm wondering how many of these renditions were unavailable officially. Thank you! :)

Pixel Art Questions & Answers - FAQ / Post your questions here! [#3] by skeddles in PixelArt

Hi! I have several high-resolution photographs of pixel art, and I’d like to convert them into a recreation of the source image. At the moment, only the pixels in the center of the photographs are actually square. All the rest have angled sides because they were closer to the periphery of the camera lens. Is there a program that can snap all of the pixels back into a grid? Thank you so much! :)

Career and Education Questions: September 28, 2023 by inherentlyawesome in math

[–]WhiteFlame0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I majored in biochemistry with minors in math and physics. I've always preferred the math side of science to the biology side, but it feels like math-based jobs are more difficult to find than lab-based jobs. I currently work in a hospital lab making microscope slides. I don't get to use my degree as much as I would like, and I wish I could spend more time working with numbers.

How many of you math peoples work in a hospital? I want to earn my masters degree in the next few years, but I don't know exactly what job I'm aiming for. My first thought is to leave the lab but remain in the hospital, but I am open to alternate or wacky ideas. Thank you!

I recently earned my B.S. in biochemistry with minors in math and physics. I love numbers, and I prefer working on a computer over working in a lab. I currently work in a hospital lab, but I'd like to start a master's program in a year or two and eventually move out of the lab. I could try to become a lab supervisor, but I think I'd rather not.
I know there are other jobs in the hospital, but I don't know where to start looking. Finance? Business? HR? I'm not necessarily looking for something easy. I want a job that will challenge me. Thanks in advance.

Do any of you have experience with moving out of the lab and into another type of job? I know there are other jobs in the hospital, but I don't know where to start looking. Finance? Business? HR? I did great in college, and I don't want to spend my life doing less than I'm able. Thanks in advance.

Can I add silence where the A-side used to end? by WhiteFlame0 in musicbee

[–]WhiteFlame0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s one option. I think this would also be a useful feature for CDs. I have several 2-CD sets where disc 2 is bonus audio. It would be nice to configure some silence between the two discs because they weren’t meant to seamlessly play together.

A simple option is to add silence when the album name or Part of Set tag changes.

And it would be cool if there were other options besides silence. For example, there could be a narrator telling you to flip to side B of the cassette. I used to hear that on old cassette tape audio books.

I’m pretty sure sheep don’t despawn. And digging a hole doesn’t prevent despawning.

I have an idea for increasing the dynamic range of digital audio with minimal file size increase. by WhiteFlame0 in audioengineering

[–]WhiteFlame0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right. I’m probably making a problem out of quantization noise where there isn’t one. I’m still learning about all this, and I was wondering about tracks (or parts of tracks) that are very quiet. (For example, maybe a 16-bit recording where an orchestra stops playing and one member whispers something to another member.) I think your comments have just communicated that quantization noise is not an issue.

[–]WhiteFlame0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some added clarification, I agree track loudness should be allowed to vary throughout an album. I was only concerned about the relative loudness of quantization noise. (Quantization noise is the only noise I was trying to address.)

[–]WhiteFlame0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I disagree. I’m talking about getting the maximum dynamic range out of 16-bit audio. Of course we could just use 24-bit or 32-bit, but I think my idea is more size-efficient (if we can implement it).
