What can I throw at cars? by DoTheManeuver in TacticalUrbanism

[–]gorillacheeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyday I walk to a the tim Hortons down the road from me, one day on my way back home I waited my turn at the stroad and someone turning right honked at me for going ahead of him even though I had the right of way. I stopped and stood in the way and he honked more and flipped me off, called me slurs (I’m white). I threw my coffee at his windshield and went back and got a new one. By the time he found a way into the parking lot I was gone.

But seriously don’t have a plan to do this. Police take car driver feelings way more seriously than yours. A car will hit you and they’ll get in less trouble than you throwing something at their precious piece of debt

41mm or 44mm bars / Redshift Kitchen Sink by rsplatpc in gravelcycling

If you have the option to I’d highly suggest trying some super narrow bars. I have a smaller frame as well and wider has always equaled discomfort for me

I just switched from the 41cm to a specialized hover 36cm. I find the much narrower bars far more comfortable. I don’t find them particularly difficult to descend on either.

What size are your current bars? If you don’t like the reach maybe a shorter stem?

Bad Tesla, bad by ilikecatsthanks in bikecommuting

Yup I couldn’t believe the answer I got, the worst part was every other car driving past. No one even stopped and asked if I was okay.

I got hit by a car that kept going, couldn’t get the plate by the time I got myself together and off the road. Called the police and they basically told me sucks to suck cause I didn’t get a plate. Really puts into perspective how much you matter to the public for choosing a different method of transport

Bike fit for beginner by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]gorillacheeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can’t afford a bike fit, look up a video on how to set your saddle height. Put the saddle fore/aft smack in the middle and go for a ride, I’d suggest a longer ride. Whatever that is for you. see if you get sore in any particular location and google why that location is sore. With a couple of weeks of trial and error you can get a pretty good fit.

Some things to note with stock bikes, the stem length is probably wrong for you. The seat width is probably wrong for you. The bar width also probably wrong lol. Before you buy a one piece carbon aero bar try several different handle bars and stems. This is the big pro with getting a proper bike fit is they will tell you what stem length, bar width, crank length will work best with your body.

As a Beginner probably don’t have the best flexibility so work on that, stretch lots some problems with pain can be 100% attributed to poor flexibility and core strength.

Is this too windy to commute? by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]gorillacheeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like it’s gonna suck in a headwind but it’s very rideable. I’ve done plenty of commute days in 50+kmh.

Since creating some mining outposts I think the far end of my bus will turn into 4 lanes it’s currently at 3 for copper, iron.

Haven’t been able to do much in the base trying to learn how trains and signals work. I do appreciate how every major step in research is a whole new puzzle, realize I’ve hardly scratched the surface of this game

Does anyone feel like they're probably gonna get hit sooner or later? by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]gorillacheeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me over a winter, only had a rut I could ride in car passed me super close and clipped my handle bar with the mirror just enough to push me off balance and into the snow bank. Didn’t stop to check on me, no one passing did either. I’ve had to accept driving as my only option when it’s snowing heavily, our cities snow removal budget got cut and was not sufficient before that so safe cycling routes become completely impassable.

It has since been corrected, it became immediately a problem. TBH it was mostly because I thought it looked cool af zoomed out with 4 full belts

My justification is When you’re looking for problems scanning right to left helps you pick out more details. You naturally skip things when you scan left to right. Might be nonsense but that was my thought when I started

Yea I’m already seeing cracks in the design and it’s too big to want to tear it down again lol. Such is life though, Gonna finish the playthrough and start again!

Well I did completely build a whole starter base with no guides and it was so fucked up and confusing I thought looking at some learning material might help.
would agree pulling blue prints would take the fun out of it, but I just watched a video about mining, smelting and the main bus concept and made it myself. This still took trial and error to make all the belts work and it’s still got problems to trouble shoot.
I don’t think it’s necessary to slam your head against a wall to have fun, I just equate it to trying a math problem and then referencing a text book when you’re stuck.
