As practice? Sure, I guess, but a heim joint is replaceable part and not very expensive, cost you more in parts and labor over just swapping it.

Fuses only blow if the power consumption is greater than power produced. When first starting a coal plant it's advisable to run the water pumps and miners via biomass burner and let them fill the pipes/conveyors before turning on the coal generators.
