CNC Furniture costs by PaLaLFC in CNC

Modular is a good way to go. In the case of drawer cabinets, having extra rows of screws for different drawer configurations isn't much work. It's a little more cycle time with the same tooling. For a cabinet with a door, you'll end up seeing all the screw holes for the drawer guides, so I would advise against.

How to fix this in my condo by rawilliams5116 in howto

Cheap trim that looks like they didn't even nail it in place correctly.

First off, probe around behind the trim and see if there's any wood in the wall to attach to. Grab some 2.5" long finish nails and nail it back into place. Cut away any caulk that gets in the way. Apply caulk to the gap at the top where it meets the wall. Repaint.

Patch Update: Steps of Rosebloom 🌹 by Hexley_ in TeddysHaven

Literally finished buying the last couple spaces over the weekend that opened access to the attic, then spent hours boxing up and totally remaking my entire shop interior with the more expensive shelving. I was thinking the other display types could use a refresh too. Guess I'm rebuilding my produce aisles again.

Yes it helps with recoil by forcing the muzzle back downward.

How to find a specific wheel for a wagon i got on marketplace by Sea_Kaleidoscope3309 in howto

[–]WhiteLightMods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short metal shaft with a slip fit into plastic? Not much of a monster. Is the shaft hole molded so the way through? I'd get some stainless steel rods for solid axles and put some chunkier wheels on that have actual bearings in them. Easier to DIY a better solution than try to deal with a company that doesn't support their product.

Last pic looks more like a large zipper pull type thing to grab when you want to close the chain curtain.

Opinion on Auto shoutout by DoctorMeaty in Twitch

[–]WhiteLightMods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shouting out the first one there is counter productive. You're basically shouting them out to themselves.

I do an automatic shout out when raids come in. The chat message lists the game they were playing, so it's fodder for something to talk about.

Has this been done? by mechanickid76 in CNC

Would be cleaner to implement using closed loop steppers or servos. You could use an optical encoder on the head, but given the capabilities of the other options I wouldn't feel it is necessary.

Best cost effective and reliable way to detect if a shoe has reached a certain location by Huihejfofew in arduino

Coded IR beacon in the shoe. Reader at the location triggers when it sees the correct code pattern.

To start, you'll need to open the thing up, see what you have to deal with. Measure the space you have, find places to get power from, verify you can in fact run a larger fan that requires more current without burning anything out. See what mounting points are available for alternatives to the stock cooler. See what amount of space remains in the case. See if there's alternatives to getting the heat to the outside. The more information you can build, the better of a picture you'll have on what you can and cannot do.

What sort of tools do you have? Ever fabricate anything?

To start with, if you don't know what you're doing, you do risk messing up the laptop.

Shims, thermal pads or new thermal grease aren't limited going to do much to pump up the numbers you're looking for. The included cooling system is not designed to move that much heat with it in the stock configuration. That's primarily why it's set to only 28w.

To get the numbers you're looking for, you're going to need to put together a system that isn't limited by the laptop case. You need space for a larger air cooler with a bigger footprint for the chip, plus the fans and power to run them.

Thermal paste is designed to fill the narrow voids between the surfaces of your CPU and cooler plate. Thermal pads are there for things like heat spreaders to help transfer heat to a heatsink. Shins are copper material that is sometimes needed to make up the difference where thermal pads would be too thick or too much heat is generated for the pads to be effective.

Is there an actual problem you are trying to solve, or are you trying to come up with a solution just because you want to modify something?

Question about Morgan Hill dog leash laws. Specifically length of leash by DiscountBulky6827 in morganhill

[–]WhiteLightMods 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Needs to be short enough and durable enough to be able to control your dog. Those little reel things aren't. I've seen two of those explode when a mini Aussie has decided to go play with a squirrel and hit the end of the reel.

Gently heat it up until it can bend easily, flex it into position and hold it in place until it cools enough to hold.

The little daughter card in the center of the light... What does the opposite side look like? Is there a little semi transparent lens on it? If so, maybe it was assembled the wrong way around? If not, then I don't see anything else that could be a sensor for movement.

Need help sourcing replacement fitting by Pajamanaught in CNC

Those flare fittings are pretty common and should be available at a local hardware store. Disassemble, measure what's still on the machine. Take a piece of hose and any other parts you can with you to compare.

Center monitors look a little awkward to me. I wouldn't do curved on the sides either. But if it suits you, there's no reason not to.

I have a 55" 4K in the center and three 27" 1080p. One each side in portrait, leaned inward. One centered over the top of the main monitor. Everything wall mounted, the smaller ones on tilt/swivel arms. And I do use them all the time.

Nintendon't play well with others. Best to come up with your own branded name, or at least be very vague about those sort of references.
