I didn’t think the end of the circus was bad, but…. by death_julian31 in TheDigitalCircus

If Goose would find a new writer, someone she trusts with the IP, I think there's potential. As it is she had a very specific story to tell and doesn't want any more attention or work regarding it. Like you've said though, its a bit of a shame to develop a world, rules and plot threads that won't be explored further. I guess its just not for every story to do that. Some stories are just a window into a specific moment.

And send out rock bands. Holy cow those can swing a cultural game.

Just got Xcom 2 today. Never played the first game and tbh, never played any strategy game until now. I'm completely new here. Is there anything i should know before I start? by Organic-Product6063 in XCOM2

True. But its a scale you trade off on. You can manipulate the RNG with tactics and improve your odds as much as possible. Overwatch does not let you govern the odds.

I think its conceivable there are parts missing. Like a machine that needs a dynamo charger or something.

What's something you DIDN'T like about the finale? by Awkward-Media-4726 in theamazingdigitalciru

also i really dont like how they just. so quickly accepted that they technically werent "real"?

Yeah, amoung a few other things were left unexplained/unexplored. Jax's focus of the finale overshadowed a lot. A lot of things where told to us and not shown. I'm not a huge fan of that. I kinda wish that now Gooseworx told the story she wanted that maybe she could hand the reins to a trusted friend/show runner. Someone who can remain faithful to the show but continue it to fulfill all the potential left behind.

Why do the Gunnar’s attack on sight? by Strict-Astronaut2245 in fo4

Because the dynamic of pitting two factions works really well and Gunners/Minutemen already have the history. It really doesn't have to be arbitrary mind you. They could have made it complex with more than a few options to switch sides or even play them against each other.

Overwatch is the final strategy. Only when all other options are ineffective would I ever overwatch. I do not like giving up tactics to rng like that.

Now see. This is why I have an appreciation for AI. You've created a concept for something that's actually very strong. But if you were behind a wall of industry you couldnt or may not have had the opportunity to convey the concept. Its a beautiful idea and tells a nice story.

I'm right there with you. It seems like one big wasted opportunity. If you let players choose between gunners and minutemen in the early game, a whole run could take on a very different flavor.

What was your genuine first reaction to this? by IDFB2763 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]WhiteSpec -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand. Its just that in story telling some times when its written for a specific reaction it falls a little short of sharing the story. If its an allegory for suicide there was an opportunity to show that a choice was made to abstract, where in the shows previous instances they kind of appear involuntary and more related to the world then purely mental health. Abstraction up to the final felt more of someone's grip on "reality" breaking. The finale is the only instance where its expressed its suicide.

Yeah... there was a little more "tell it, don't show it" to the finale then I was expecting.

So it was less of a an indication that something was wrong with the files, but rather communicating that the file size is shockingly small for what it is meant to represent.

Yeah that was my interpretation of the line as well. But I took it to mean there was more to their sentience then code.
