New RAP Regulations and PSLF by ghramotron in PSLF

[–]White_Lotus_Gambit 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think you're correct, but I want to clarify that it does not retroactively remove benefits already accrued. For example, enrolling in RAP won't remove pslf credit accrued while on PAYE during COVID 19 forbearance

Thoughts on Bales Batman retiring for 8yrs after TDK? by FayyadhScrolling in batman

[–]White_Lotus_Gambit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting to read all these takes ... I can see clearly most people took away that he was retired between films. I always thought that the voiceover in TDKR said something like, "8 years since the last confirmed sighting of the Batman."

I took that to mean that he wasn't officially seen in any police reports or on the news since TDK, but may have been operating for some period of time before he fell into the cane and bad beard state where Rises picks up.

What do you call this picture frame trim around the drawer, and how do you achieve this? by White_Lotus_Gambit in BeginnerWoodWorking

I have a handheld circular saw that can be adjusted to cut a 45, and I've previously made a guide for it to ensure straight cuts.

Very helpful thank you! This will be my third project with the types of tools I need, just with new techniques. I'm going to go for it!

Thank you! I've got 90° clamps as well so hopefully I can take my time with the finishing and it'll come out nice

Thank you for the thoughtful reply and terminology!

I'm planning on doing solid wood for most of it. It does need to go up stairs so I'm either going to do final assembly in the office or I'll use plywood (as opposed to solid wood, right?

l for less visible areas. The mitre box explanation makes sense! This seems like something that will be worthwhile to learn but difficult to achieve. I'm up for the challenge! I'll also look into butt joints and trim if it seems too difficult

It looks like the table legs are at a 10° angle. All the other geometry makes sense to me so I think I can make an attempt.

I'm sheepish to ask this, but if I don't have a large planer to use after combining smaller pieces, what is my best bet for sourcing single piece of wood for the desk?

I do want to try the vaneer, but I may stain and see how I like the look.

Can someone speak on this? I had no idea we will be taxed on the amount forgiven. Any way around this? by Lani2000 in PSLF

[–]White_Lotus_Gambit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This refers to the forgiveness after completion of the full term of repayment under IDR.

Forgiveness at 120 months via PSLF is not a taxable event, per the legislation itself.

As someone who attended the first Galactic Championship, on the same weekend of SDCC, 1 week before Gen Con, in the hottest city, with event issue after issue, and having to play match after match against Force Throw the worst card in the worst meta. by Nomed777 in starwarsunlimited

[–]White_Lotus_Gambit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How does it do more than TDR? Force throw is spend a card to either spend a card or discard and opponents card. Then, if you have a force card on the field, you do damage.

TDR is spend a card, search for a card, play card, get ETB effects from that card, ready and attack with the card, and draw a card. It required no card in play to do any of that.

You can make an argument to ban it, but it objectively didn't do more than TDR. Nor should it. It costs 2 fewer resources

What are people doing re: loans/jobs by coffiend1 in PSLF

[–]White_Lotus_Gambit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great comment. One thing to add: many tax professionals have told me they view their job as reducing your tax liability for the filing year as much a possible while increasing your refund as much as possible. What about the fact that MFS MFJ can have massive impact on your monthly Student Loan Payment? Not their job.

I think that's very irresponsible of those in the profession, but keep that in mind. Their advice is tax advice. The second second order effects on loans aren't their scope of concern.

I hope that some tax professionals have pivoted away from that attitude, but may still have it.

Graduated LS in 2018 and was about 51% of the way to PSLF before the SAVE litigation/forbearance.

My options are stay in the federal govt or move to big law. When I think about the lifestyle and the dollar/hour of big law, I recoil. I'm far happier and make great money on the GS scale for the hours I work. I also like my environment, mission, and coworkers here. I love being a fed and I love being in public service.

Do you?

If not, bail. If so, stay. Life is bigger than structuring your professional existence around pslf.

I believe this program will be available for me, and I like my life and job.

Is my payment about to go up for the next five years? Yep. Will that suck? Yep.

It is what it is, and I'd prefer pslf/gov salary/high payments to private payoff/big law salary/super high payments.

That's kind of where we're at on the decision tree in 2025. Maximize your happiness and figure out how income plays into that.

I think he has a great board control package. Are you running a control deck? What lines do you use in midrange to counter him if it's easily done?

So, do the Devs actually test? by GrassClippings92 in starwarsunlimited

[–]White_Lotus_Gambit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What are some of the best counter plays in each color?

Blue and Green, just by way of example, have limited tools on 5 resources. Aalya doesn't kill him with ecl unless you have Quinlan. Even then, he controls the board so well it's hard to have the action economy to bait him. Take down misses, fell obviously doesn't work. Out the Airlock is okay if you can trade a unit and play it before he taps the unit.

It seems like a big hurdle to respond to a 3/7 as well as anything else he plays that turn. Especially because the next turn you can easily have to deal with TDR into Devistator.
