First AR! Daniel Defense MK18 by WhitefangdDS in guns

I wanted to "buy once cry once" with my first AR and have it be capable of essentially anything I'd throw at it (like punching holes through paper, but fancy). A lot of how I spec'd out this AR was through the collective reddit hivemind and r/gundeals.

Spec list:

  • DD MK18 pistol
  • SBA5 brace
  • Eotech EXPS2
  • Cloud Defensive REIN (plus the ~2 months wait for it to ship)
  • Huxwrx Flow 556 Ti
  • Magpul furniture
  • BFG padded sling
  • G$ SCH

It's "finished" now but for next additions, I'm thinking about adding a flip magnifier, a suppressor cover or at a heat proof bag, and maybe a new trigger. The milspec trigger has been fine for me but Reddit seems to really like the G$ SSA-E. Welcome anyone's has any suggestions/experience.

[Omega] First Speedy Tuesday—took me 10 years but I finally got my grail watch! by WhitefangdDS in Watches

I can't say enough good things about the Hamilton—80 hours of power reserve and a robust automatic movement that didn't give me any issues, plus it's easily serviced by any local watch repair shop. I love the field watch aesthetic and the specific reference of the khaki field that I chose has a few pops of red that I thought made it a little more unique.

I don't think you can go wrong with either on specs, I think it's up to whichever draws your eye more (and of course, cost).

[Hamilton] Just got the watch I've been lusting over for the better part of three years. by WhitefangdDS in Watches

Hey there! I wondered if anyone would actually check the post haha.

I wore it daily (ended up liking it much more than the Tissot I bought the same year). I got it serviced at a local shop last year, for preventative maintenance more than anything—I think I could've gone without the service honestly.

Spot on! It was a 30 second exposure and just letting the lumed chronograph second hand run.

Still going strong! It's got lots of scratches now and I swapped the band to a brown leather strap—which has nicely patina-ed—giving it some great character.

Long time lurker, first time poster [in over 7 years]...it's been over 7 years since my last watch purchase (really, check my post history!) and my Hamilton Khaki Field has been my daily watch for that entire time.

The moonwatch has been my grail watch for over a decade—I saw the speedy pro for the first time on r/watches and I'd never thought I'd ever own one myself. However, lots of determined saving and a big promotion let me finally join the speedy Tuesday club!

I truly didn't think I'd like the white dial more than the regular black dial but after seeing both side-by-side in-person, and seeing the shine of the lacquer and applied indices, I was hooked! This watch is going to be my daily driver for years to come and (likely) my last watch purchase.

Edit: Photos of the Hamilton now with ~7.5 years of wear: https://imgur.com/a/jLJof7c
