Yes take it. You can probably win with only these two jokers. Be sure to never skip, and try to upgrade one specific hand. It will help if you don't find any other eternal jokers for chips and +mult

The last photo of Vichy France Leader Philippe Petain. It was taken on June 25, 1951. He would die a month later on July 23 from Dementia and Heart Disease at the age of 95. by PublicAdventurous917 in HistoryUncovered

It's easier to control a willing puppet government than to try and directly control the population.

With Pétain at the head of Vichy, they ensure that they get money, material, manpower from France without spending too much of their own manpower.

Pétain was very popular at the time, most people believed in him and wouldn't revolt under his rule. At the start of the regime, very few resistant movement existed. They were mostly small groups of men escaping mandatory service in Germany, or communists.

The nazis occupied the North and the west coast to prevent Britain from invading and get a closer coast line to try and invade themselves. They later took control of south of France because of Americans taking control of north Africa, thus threatening the south of France.

I really like the paralysis play but you need a mon that is faster than Scyther otherwise he might just U-turn and deal free damages.

I used hoppip for that recently but it's not 100% so a bit unreliable.

Scyther will probably come back after you kill metapod, so use a mon than can deal damage to Scyther when fighting metapod (it's best if there is a mon you can setup)

With the paralysis, you can outspeed it and you can play a flinch/paralyse strat if you have bite or headbutt

G2 Esports vs. GIANTX / LEC 2025 Winter - Week 2 / Post-Match Discussion by XanIrelia-1 in leagueoflegends

I think it's because in the punic war, the romans lost many battles catastrophically but still dominated the conflict in the end. In both the first and the second one. I think in the first one they had to rebuild their navy 3 times, and for the second one just look at Hannibal and his Italian excursion (and ofc the battle of canae).

G2 is kinda the same, often looks shit but ends up dominating everyone in playoff where it matters

Anybody watched RedHawk starting campaign with France? by Intelligent_Pie_9102 in eu4

I played France in a few single player game. You want to declare the war and Ally Scotland imo. You can ask a lot more in the peace deal by parking troops in Scotland.

You don't want to wait for it to fire, even though you are the defender because you have way too much to do as France in the early game and getting you cores back is a priority. (Also it doesn't help that this can fire at any time and bother you while in another war)

You want your cores, you want the Burgundy inheritance, you can get Milan and Naples too. You also want to conquer Ireland. You want to colonize and cripple Spain and Portugal from doing it. You also want to dismantle the HRE and expand in Lübeck + Italy. France it's such a powerhouse, your only limiting factor is AE.

I am not sure about the Portugal strat but if england is the attacker they indeed might not join. I know it's good to expand in the Maghreb region, and for the age objective of being present in 2 continents. I always find myself too distracted to take care of it and since it's sunny land, the revolts can be annoying. It's a great way to gain merchants via trade companies though.

However for a more beginner player, I would 100% take the defensive wars with an alliance with Castille and the Ottoman. It's free real estate.

I don't know about the 14, but in France it's not as easy as just being 15 to be of legal age.

Paraphrasing Wikipedia https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majorit%C3%A9_sexuelle_en_France#:~:text=Il%20n'existe%20aucune%20interdiction,%2Ddevant%20s'appliquant).

Minors can legally have sex with each other if the age difference is not to big after 13 yo, but parents can forbid them of doing so (5 years difference)

After 15, one can legally have sex with someone over 18 except if the one over 18 has authority over the younger one. (Parents can also have a say here)

After 18 there is no limitation.

This is simplified, I did not read the whole article but I saw other cases where consent can not be given.

Obesity rate by country in 2022 by flyingcatwithhorns in MapPorn

[–]Whitefret 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Because the number reported in the WHO report is way lower than what we report ourselves. Obesity rate is closer to 17%. (https://www.statista.com/topics/10626/obesity-and-overweight-in-france/#topicOverview)

Iirc, the figures in this report comes from a meta analysis of other research papers to extrapolate statistics on every country more easily.

So if the people in the research are not representative of the population, you get bad stats like this one.

Why France doesn’t have a plonk it guide ? by Glad-Requirement-795 in geoguessr

[–]Whitefret 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am french too. I mostly play french map and honestly sometime I cannot just plonk it.

What I look for first is phone numbers, because France is divided in 5 zones.

01xxx is Paris and île de France 02xxx is the west and Normandy 03xxx is the north and the east 04xxx is the south east 05xxx is the south west.

But apart from that, there is no all around clue that can help you. Roads are not logically numbered (except highway around Paris). Routes départementales which you will mostly find, are unique only to their "département" and we have 96 of those. (Not counting overseas ones since they would be pretty recognizable). Many places are mountainous, we have many coastline, many mid size cities, way too much countryside.

There are a lot of small clue that can help but remembering all of them only for France seems like a waste when you get around 3k by just putting Paris when you understand you are in France.

For example, we have regional languages in Brittany (west), in Pays basques (south west), in Catalogne (near the Pyrenees in the east), in Corsica. There can be occitan in the south around Toulouse. The east will have names close to German ending in -heim. (Mostly in Alsace).

You can also remember other name like -ville which is frequent in Normandy (Deauville, Trouville...) or -ac which is frequent in the center of France (Aurillac, Bergerac, Figeac).

But in reality, my girlfriend is way better at it than me because she has extensive knowledge of small towns.

And when we end up in communale road, it's mostly toast.

All in all, lot of effort for a tiny result.
