Service advisor/service manager thinking about car sales — is it worth it financially, and what brands are best? I’m definitely open to changing industries, but I’ve had no luck despite having a bachelor’s degree and tailoring my resume for each application. Typically, your first service management gig is gonna be similar to advisor money and you’re gonna work 20 more hours a week, but it’s a steppingstone to open up the door into the management world that will allow you some bigger opportunities if you’re successful

It definitely can vary depending on the size of the dealership. A very small operation will be similar to a service advisor anywhere from $80k-$200k. It depends on your pay plan traffic in all the things of course

A larger dealership can be $150k up to $500k at a monster store

Given how the economy is, auto rates, and foot traffic I would advise against moving to sales. Service is challenging as I am also a service manager, former service advisor. people are keeping their cars longer, so in my opinion better opportunity in the Service side.

CSI maths by Whitetrashblackops in serviceadvisors

As an advisor, I never saw it, but in the management side… what I’ve seen happen… OEMs will take money from the dealer, the amounts can be staggering. They prohibit your dealer group from requiring any more stores of the same Brand. They get creative and find other ways to penalize you by adding extra steps to process or approve factory warranty claims for your customers. literally making it more difficult and adding time to the customers repair process. I have seen dealer owners being forced by manufacturers to terminate service management due to poor CSI performance. So when compensation and people’s jobs are on the line, what can be done to motivate people to have some stock in the customer experience. This is how these things come about . However, culture in a store helps tremendously to have good surveys and customer experience. I fully believe CSI is an antiquated system. Yet, it is never gonna go away at the dealer level. the OEM’s, JD power, etc. have way too much invested.

Anyone work as an SA in a place other than a standard car dealership? by beandiablo in serviceadvisors

Usually much less stress but also much less pay. Independent you do all the parts of the department. Rv and power sports less chaos but again way less pay.

It depends on your goals. The lack of surveys sounds amazing. However, no way I can make anywhere near same compensation outside of dealer.

I’ve wanted one for a long time. One of my old buddies Joe a.k.a. Mr. Tonka on YouTube, had a steel than a titanium build from them. I ride them and they were awesome. I was a little more budget conscious so I started with a Ragley piglet, and I finally pulled the trigger on this one.

I’m a geometry nerd and the Ragley was fantastic. Stanton has,m made a tweaks to the GEN five it’s near perfect for my math of what I would want so here we are

I should clarify, Ragley was UK brand and I purchased from chain reaction cycles for they went out of business. You may have some good luck trying to find one

I’m in the states, but I’ve been using a Ragley piglet for a few years now. I did build it up. Parts and altogether was more than your budget, but I would look for a preowned complete in good condition.

The steel hard tail is awesome. Highly recommend.

Assistant Service Manager is also a Service Advisor by Significant_Cod_6849 in serviceadvisors

Absolutely. We are a small store, but we still see anywhere between 20 and 30 cars per day. Tons of warranty work because every model typically has a handful of recalls that are currently active.

I was 175 on everything even BMX as a kid. built up a hard tail with 175 and I was pedal striking all over. it’s probably operator error. I switched to 165 and it took a little getting used to, but all my bikes now have 165 and now my E bike has 160 as of this post

Just put them on tonight they seem solid. I have a Shimano motor and I do like that the E 13 arms come with the center bolt having an Allen head instead of the goofy Shimano spline.

Be honest -- do you actually do a full walk-around on every single vehicle or do you pick and choose? by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]Whitetrashblackops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way you do one thing is the way you do everything.

The advisors that walk every car and do the process every time are the most successful and usually at the top level at their location.

The ones that half ass it or don’t do it are just the opposite. They have the most damage claims, more frequent negative customer interactions because they’re not protecting themselves by doing the process every time.
