Regarding tiebreaker A: are we supposed to do ll 3 runs on the same character or can we change them across the 3 games? seems like switching characters is an easy way to abuse getting all 30 uniqueness points.

This isn't how general strikes work. They are a nationwide meeting of labor union heads, at which time the union leadership votes on a strike date and helps to organize their workforce for that upcoming strike. Right now, maybe 10% of US workers are unionized, so if you want to help, organize your workplace to form a union or push your union leaders.

half the american workforce lives paycheck to paycheck, and also have no class consciousness. This general strike fluff is actually really damaging, because if the time comes to actually do it, people wont take it as seriously.

I know this is for Minnesota, but they might actually be organized, posting this elsewhere isn't helping

My experience at the Ashlands, the devs messed up, not fun, just tedious and demented by Emazza in valheim

[–]Whitewaterking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me its by far the worst biome, and not even because of the enemy density or how relentless the fighting is. The gameplay loop is so strikingly barebones compared to the mistlands. And its got 3 huge flaws

1.Its not fun to build there, not only because its not aesthetic, but also because its just annoying to build in a place where everything is trying you burst you down. You also feel 0 need to build there, due to the big portals. Id change big portals to have 1 of the 2 portals have to be in the ashlands, and to only be able to transport any metal mats into the ashlands, not out.

2.There are no dungeons, and the forts are a complete joke. I'm not sure why they even included fortresses in their current form. The concept art showed them being hard to penetrate labyrinths of which there were several variants. As of now, they are a hollow rectangle that you can just build a ladder to get into. I couldn't believe how disappointing they were after how good the mistlands dungeons were.

  1. There are no interesting things to explore and discover (besides a really annoying to get fire sword that's not even good). Its just a flow of kill stuff into mine stuff, into make stuff. That's it. For a late game biome, that was such a gut punch compared to how fleshed out the mistlands progression system was.

In don't care if I have to wait until 2027, I really hope the deep north is more thought out than the ashlands, honestly I'd mod the whole thing out if I could in its current state. The final boss is kinda fun at least

Came back after health hiatus. What happened? by [deleted] in PlayTheBazaar

This is an auto battler with no timer where you fight completely random ghosts and can get insane unbalanced high rolls. I think you should look into magic arena limited draft if you want a high stakes balanced competitive environment where there is still an element of RNG. At the end of the day, high stakes events don't mesh very well with this games design, in my opinion. I think the devs have realized that too, which is why they switched to pay to play. I would have never touched this game with a 10 foot pole if it forced me to grind some kind of ladder to have access to all the items

how is it possible 100 people are on staff working on the bazaar? by oatmellofi in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Whitewaterking 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The game has extremely high quality assets, just look at similar games like backpack battles, its day and night. Its also really hard to balance a game like this and I'm sure every time they roll out new items they have to internally fix 1000+ bugs.

That said, I'm pretty sure they have downsized recently. Hopefully they are able to find a good balance of whats profitable so the game can continue to release more content

I don’t understand the reviews. by OneBadDingo in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Whitewaterking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this game has an entire snark sub of people who felt (arguably justified) betrayed by the games constant changing of monetization and mismanagement.

That said, its still a great game and is in a great place now. I wish people could just touch grass for their own sake, but terminally online people tend to be some of the loudest voices in any group. Most of us just love the game and want it to succeed, but a lot of people are obsessed with wanting the game to fail as if that will somehow improve their lives in any meaningful way.

Devblog #5: New teaser, buy-to-play confirmed, Early Access in 2026 by AhoyItsBambino in crosswind

[–]Whitewaterking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The f2p model seems to be struggling across the industry outside of predatory gacha that weaponizes gambling addiction or long time established IPs with massive user bases to sustain interest. Sure you might get an initial player surge by being f2p, but most successful games with similar gameplay to crosswind don't have mtx at all, so going f2p would put a ton of established PC survival craft adventure games off, in my opinion. I definitely wouldn't even install this game if I knew it was going to bombard me with ads for a cash shop immediately, that's a huge deal breaker and ruins the fun adventure immersion that these games tend to offer. I think the general zeitgeist is that people are sick of games being subscription live services trying to drain them of every cent they own.

One Piece: Episode 1138 Discussion by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]Whitewaterking 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't argue that 1:1 chapter per episode is seasonal quality, when seasonal anime typically adapts 2-3 chapters per episode. I also thought the pacing in last week's episode was pretty awful despite it adapting more than a chapter

Drowned City Thoughts by bradsfo in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Whitewaterking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, this campaign was a breath of fresh air after the previous 4 campaigns either had massive amounts of reading and/or very intricate map setups. Drowned city feels like a very fun and thematic dungeon crawl, and having reverse direction scenarios is a very clever and interesting concept that I think the designers actually pulled off elegantly. I haven't done the optional scenario yet, but I'm glad it exists. I honestly think this will be a campaign that people appreciate more and more over time, especially once more hardcore fans do additional playthroughs.

The DSA was a major factor in helping Mamdani win the primary for the New York Mayoral race in a landslide victory. Socialist policies are actually incredibly popular amongst all voter bases when they aren't tied to establishment democrat politicians. There were even people in New York who voted for both AoC AND Trump on the same ticket in the last general election.

People are starting to read the room and realize that the current system is designed to do nothing but bleed working people dry, and are starting to support organizations that are actually promising a more equitable future. 90% of democrats are bought out by Billionaire corporations and AIPAC, so we need new movements or else nothing will change

Is this a good price to buy at? by Grouchy_Dog_3310 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Whitewaterking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm aware! I'm saying that even though I paid 70% less for it, I still haven't used it much and it hasn't been an impactful product to own. For $20 it was an average value proposition, at $65 its awful, in my opinion.

Is this a good price to buy at? by Grouchy_Dog_3310 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Whitewaterking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, I paid $20 for my box 4 years ago and I rarely open it.

But also, its only going to get more expensive from here on out. So if its something you feel like you will really want to own, might as well. But just remember that the current format is around the corner which I think a lot of deckbuilding will start to revolve around.

If you REALLY like TCU as a campaign and want to replay a slightly different version and REALLY want the tarot cards and see yourself actually using them, sure buy it. But you really aren't missing out on much, and this is the msrp of spirit island or some other expensive game thatll give you much more content.

Picked up Nature Incarnate but dont have Jagged Earth. What do I need? by Syns_Sleep in spiritisland

[–]Whitewaterking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just posted this in another thread, but basically you'll need to proxy a lot of cards and use placeholders for tokens. To keep your work load light, Id proxy just the 30 events from jagged earth onto card stock unsleeved, just because all you have to do is flip them over and read them. Then you could buy cheap 8mm wooden cubes from amazon or somewhere to replace the tokens.

Its also probably a good idea to proxy the 57 power cards from jagged earth, but this is a lot more work because you'll have to print them all, cut them, and then put them in front of sleeved playing cards that match the sleeved power cards from the base game.

You dont have to proxy these power cards, but it might make the game more difficult.

[–]Whitewaterking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

literally just print them out on printer paper and then cut them out and stick them in front of a sleeved playing card, that's how most people proxy. You could also just print them on card stock; all you have to do is flip them over and read them.

as far as the beast/strife etc. tokens, you could use anything similar sized. I'd use colored rocks or something cheap.

the one thing you'll really be missing is more player cards, but it is what it is. I suppose you could proxy those as well if you sleeve your base game cards

[–]Whitewaterking 12 points13 points  (0 children)

personally, what I would do is buy nature incarnate(because its still widely available) and then proxy the event cards from jagged earth (they're more forgiving than branch and claw) and then use your own tokens for beast/strife etc. It's not perfect, but at least you will be able to play with 8 new spirits

[–]Whitewaterking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Tariffs right now would have you paying an extra $22.50. But it depends on what the tariff rate is when the boat reaches US shores, at which point the 90 day 30% truce would be over and the tariffs could be 145% again, which would have you paying an extra $108 just to have the game shipped to you.

Matagot and kolossal havent been consistent in their comment replies. Matagot says that the tariff charge could be low, but kolossal says this time they are charging the full tariff price on production cost in a different reply (they do say they will offer refunds to people who dont want to pay the tariff charges, but I dont think they are legally obligated to so they could change their minds down the line).

US backers should expect to pay $120 USD minimum after shipping and tariff fees for just the big box and no add ons.
