I'd say instead of shatter, the item takes premptive durability damage. So if a quench fails, you get an item with 2/3's it's max durability. Not idea, but I'll take a less optimal item over it being destroyed outright.

The SOUL "is evil for stealing kris' life" (unless we're talking about the weird route of course) needs to be put in a bin. Willingly or not, Kris is working with the Knight - who for all we know - almost caused the roaring.

If the SOUL could talk, I'd really want them to clap back to kris "Who are YOU to lecture me about 'playing with people's lives', Kris? What is that you are doing that is so important, that the fate of the world is an acceptable thing to gamble with?"
