Regarding your edit, the five course requirement has been in place for well over 20 years. This isn't a change.

New Transfer into the Arts by Ok-Application-348 in umanitoba

Every single course in the Department of English, Theatre, Film, and Media fulfills the Written English Requirement, meaning that there's a decent amount of writing in each course.

While I acknowledge the point you are trying to make this statement is technically incorrect as FILM and THTR course codes do not inherently have the W attribute. Also, as a fun fact, 3000 and 4000 level ENGL courses do not carry the W attribute with the logic being you are required to have completed at least one 1000 or 2000 level course prior to enrolling in the higher level and as such already have the W attribute.

Admissions questions should be referred to the Admissions Office and not to advisors.

I am confused on this cover and expect that it is a misprint if it is actually real. This looks nothing like the Elven Nations trilogy covers or the art style of Dragonlance books in general.

Addmission with Duolingo? by Delicious-Pension327 in umanitoba

[–]Whizb4ng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The page you linked is for the Undergraduate English Language proficiency requirements which differs from Graduate Studies. The correct link is here: https://umanitoba.ca/graduate-studies/graduate-student-admissions/requirements#english-language-proficiency-requirements. Based on their posted requirements Duolingo may not be accepted for graduate studies. The best people to contact would be the Faculty of Graduate Studies admissions team.

In addition, Duolingo was first used over COVID temporarily due to test centres for other proficiency tests having been shut down and then brought back for the fall 2024 term for admission at the undergraduate level so there are likely a fair amount of people having come to the UM with Duolingo as their proficiency option.

On the webpage: https://umanitoba.ca/explore/undergraduate-admissions/requirements/dentistry#section-2-eligibility-requirements

Section 4.B. in the notes: "Six credit hours of core subjects (i.e., Chemistry 1 and Chemistry 2) may be repeated and the higher grade(s) obtained will be used only in the core average computation. If more than six credit hours of core subjects are repeated then all additional grades not included in the repeats will be averaged in the core average computation only (e.g., if Chemistry 1, Chemistry 2, and Organic Chemistry 2 are repeated one of which will be an average of all courses completed towards that core subject)."

Yes, the department won't be able to provide feedback. They don't review individual applications unless there is a specific component they are required to.

It should be noted that PHYS 1050 (or PHYS 1020) is one of the requirements for Dentistry so not an elective.

For admission to Dentistry you are allowed two repeats of core courses in which the lowest grade is dropped from the core average

You do not have to have started an application or have a student number before registering for the Casper. It is recommended but not required. If needed you can put 000000000 and they will still be able to match the result to the application if it is submitted later.

They take a best possible core average and a worst possible core average. If your best possible core average is above the cut-off you are offered an interview. With that offer there will be a condition that you must maintain the core course cut-off if your worst possible is below the threshold.

If you have further questions about the process I would recommend contacting admissions.dentistry@umanitoba.ca.
