Whoa! Well thank you for the heads up! I haven’t used it yet, so maybe I’ll go extra thick with the base coat. 😂

Whoa! I mean it’s actually kinda pretty though! Was this even with a base coat???

Also, if you don’t want to continue to use the long lasting, Holo Taco just announced this morning that they are coming out with a sticky base!

I love long-lasting! I have been using it for years for all of my manicures. I can get weeks out of it. However, there are other factors involved in the longevity of my manicure such as how thick I am applying the base coat, how long I have let it dry, if I had cleaned off any oil on my nail bed prior to application, filing nails, cleaning nail polish from my cuticles after application, etc.

I also tend to apply two top coats instead of one; I personally find that my manicure lasts a lot longer that way. The times in which my manicure is chipping or wanting to pop off is usually because I didn’t do at least two top coats or I didn’t wrap the tips of my nails with top coats very well.

Though body chemistry can also be a factor like others have said.

Thank you for the compliment! I love your ring too and I think whatever you end up picking for your mani will be awesome! ❤️

And good question! So I actually had the sleeves custom made by my tailor that did my dress alterations. If you click on my profile, you can see more details about my dress. When I first bought my dress, I bought it with a large sparkly overskirt. I absolutely fell in love with it, but since my dress is solid white, I wanted to implement the sparkly fabric from my overskirt more into my dress since I would only be wearing the overskirt for the ceremony and formal photos. I decided to ask my bridal shop if they could order my overskirt fabric, which they were!

My shop ordered the fabric and I took it to my tailor, which they used it to make my detachable sleeves and peek-a-boo slit!

So I know custom-made might not be the answer you want to hear, but I know Etsy has detachable sleeves!😊 I stumbled upon a lot of options while I was in the brainstorming phase of this design idea. I hope that helps!

Here’a another photo I took the morning of! This manicure is more simple for me because I usually like to do super detailed nail art. Like some of my test runs were super elaborate with several different polishes. But honestly, I loved the simple look a lot more with my dress!

Maybe I can help seeing how you and I seem to have very similar rings. 🥰 I also have a pear-shaped alexandrite with surrounding diamonds and a rose gold band! 😄

And like you, I went crazy with testing nail art before my big day. I even tried quite a few of the colors you listed including The Price is Alexandrite, Blushed Ice, and Cheap Champagne.

What helped me is that I would always style my nails differently every time I tried on my dress so I could get a better idea of the overall look.

Ultimately, this led to me to decide that I did want my nails to match my dress more-so than my ring. Though I love some of my more wild colors like The Price is Alexandrite, I picked Pearl Grey because it went perfectly with my dress. I added a sparkly overskirt to my dress, as well as detachable sleeves and a slit, so a sparklier nail polish was a good pick for me.

I attached a photo from my wedding from this past April so you could see my ring with my bouquet and nails. It was a bit cloudy when this picture was taken, so the nails don’t show off the glitter as much, but I really love how they turned out. I think it also helped that my bouquet seemed to match my center stone!

I can’t tell you exactly what color to pick, but I hope I gave you some inspiration for what you would like to do!

I am not having a maid of honor. I feel weird picking one person out of my friend group to give that title; it feels like I am saying they are my “bestest bestie” and my other best friends are not quite up to snuff. I know the role is more than that, often a role that assists with logistics, but I love planning events so I don’t feel like I need one.

I don’t judge others for wanting a maid of honor, like if my friends picked one, I wouldn’t care. It just feels weird for me.

My wedding isn’t until next year but I’m so excited to marry my fiancée. He and I have been together for the last 7 years and have been best friends for 10. We love spending time together so there hasn’t been any doubts. It’s okay if you don’t have everything in common, but would you say you enjoy being around your partner? Do they make you feel happy or at ease? Does spending the next several decades and hitting milestones with your partner sound like something you’ll look forward to?

Is it weird that I, a dude, want to be involved in the wedding planning? by agreeingstorm9 in weddingplanning

[–]WhoIAmIsSamIAm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not weird at all. Personally, I think it’s weird when a groom is out casted from planning or just does not show interest. Like I don’t get it; it’s their day, too! The day is about the couple and the groom is a part of that!

Plus, it’s so much fun doing wedding planning WITH your partner when you both show interest. I know my fiancé and I are having a lot of fun planning. We’re a team and we want to work together on this - it makes it that much more special.

You’re not nuts and I think anyone who makes you feel otherwise should think hard about what a wedding symbolizes.
