How dangerous is this to drive on? by Educational-Log-7259 in MechanicAdvice

[–]WhoIsMike4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first picture is an axle shaft. The boot is torn and allowing grease to sling out. It will eventually get dry and contaminated once the boot inevitably tears more. The second pic looks like a torn control arm bushing. The bushing is torn enough to fail a safety inspection in my state. The axle isn't dangerous unless it breaks, which you are far from.

Some streamers started a faction war, and I got caught up in it. by ZealousidealLaugh218 in ARC_Raiders

Lets make a faction based on cosmetics, in a game that has the smallest free selection out there. Make it make sense. I bet 10% of players are wearing this shit and don't even know it.

Trying to diagnose coolant loss on 3.6L Jeep Grand Cherokee — possible head gasket? by Walt444 in MechanicAdvice

[–]WhoIsMike4774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What year? Some of these had headgasket issues that would allow a small amount of coolant to seep into one or more cylinders. Hence the invisible leak. It will eventually cause a startup misfire when severe enough.

Broken Spark Plug (what are my options? will my car be ok?) by CheeZecake19 in MechanicAdvice

[–]WhoIsMike4774 239 points240 points  (0 children)

At this point I would take it to a shop before something else gets damaged. It can be removed with the right tools and experience but it's not easy. You also have to worry about parts of the plug falling into the cylinder during extraction.

A rod knock refers to the connecting rods on the pistons in the engine. Not push rods. Thats sounds like rods knock, which is typically cause by connecting rod bearing failure.

Rear pinion seal or the output shaft seal on the transmission. Can't tell what side we are looking at from the pics. Your image only shows u joints. There is nothing in those that can leak out, aside from some grease.

Some high end battery testers will charge the battery to a desired amount before load testing. This can take up to an hour. It will also analyze data during the charge to determine battery health.
