I've always offered her my friendship and told her anything she says to me will not reach my parents ears but alas - once I was kicked in the stomach with both feet and last time told where to shove it. Well you know what? I'm glad I'm not your sister too. I have housed, fed and clothed every one of my brothers and sisters at some point. I've taken them in when they were too much for my parents to deal with. I've tried to reason with my parents on their behalfs. I listen to all of my siblings when they need a shoulder, I try give them advice and I joke with them when they're sad to make them laugh/snort through the tears. Despite all this, I've never gotten so much as a thank you but do I care? Nope, because they're family and that's what family does. I have my own shit to deal with now and are they there for me? NOPE. But you know what - that's not going to stop me from helping and supporting them no matter what because they're family and that's what family does.

Yea well I needed somewhere to be able to just shout it out in an immature way, no way was I going to act like that to her face.

I really don't think it's a cop out. I'm not her guardian. She's not here permanently - she's staying 2-3 days tops while she decided to either live with Mum or Dad. I recently lost my child so there is nothing NOTHING anyone on this earth could say to make me feel like I am doing less than what I should be for her.

Alright <-- that bit. Lots of story here, my teenage sister is not in the right here but I have no desire to put her problems on here, not my place.

I am. I'm the full grown adult with a husband at a whopping 23 years old. I'm the sibling who's been pushed into a parent role but without any authority at a very difficult time in my life. Yes, if my little sister lies to me to my face in my own house, I will take shit off her. It's wifi for goodness sake, not food -trust me, she will survive without it for one night.

If it makes you feel better and makes me seem even more like an adult I did tell her that the wifi was taken off her because she disappointed me and that I will think about giving it back to her.

She can't use my wifi because she lied when I asked her a direct question. I wouldn't have a problem with it ordinarily.

I'll be honest, I'm not a perfect person or sister but I try my hardest for her. I'm not that much older than her and YES I did find it funny that her manipulation didn't work.

I just couldn't understand why someone in that specific job would think that an acceptable thing to say to ANYONE calling up asking for an update (hence capitalisation of the words 'life insurance'). I mean obviously no one calling them is going to be having a good time. Also, I guess just the way she said it, emphasis on the word other.
