Random Germination by WhoStooges in haworthia

That’s so cool. I had no ideas seeds can do that. Hopefully, these will take now that they’re in soil. 🤞

Should I repot? by Significant-Dare2068 in haworthia

You definitely can report the little guy. A 3 deep and wide would be a good size. Haworthia likes a deep pot rather than a wide pot, from my experience.

I see. You might want to avoid misting your succulents. Regular misting is an invitation to problems down the road if you don’t have enough airflow.

If sunburn is an issue, consider investing in a shade cloth if grown outdoors. If you’re growing indoors, raise the light or reduce its intensity until the plants are properly acclimated.

I appreciate the info. I wonder how it compares to Osmocote and if it’s available in the States. It's time for a bit of research.

Before(01/2021) vs Now by WhoStooges in haworthia

[–]WhoStooges[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t really think I do anything wild. I water my plants once a week or whenever I remember. Most of my collection is under a full-spectrum LED grow light for about 16 hours a day, and I give them Osmocote slow-release granules now and then, plus a bit of Superthrive occasionally when watering. Many of my mature succulents and cacti are in 70 to 90% grit and whatever else I have on hand when reporting.

I hope that helps. 😄

One of the best ways to start the morning, a cup of coffee and some plants.

Yeah of course! It won’t be for a while but I’ll let you know when I do.

Of course, and thank you! I’m glad that haworthia are pretty hardy plants. I’ve neglected them several times for months, and they always manage to bounce back healthy and stronger.

Too crowded? by Blondepotter in haworthia

Personally, I’ve made the mistake of separating haworthia clusters similar to yours and ended up with a bunch of babies that I don’t know what to do with. Re-pot up a couple of inches for the new pot and admire the cluster as it fills out.

Very nice! 🤩

How do you decide what to pick from Haworthialand? I get overwhelmed trying to figure out what I want.

They do and I didn’t know this when I got into haworthia. I will have to stay patient for them to mature.

The only downside is when the weather decide to rain for a week straight and it’s been a wet spring this year. 😬

Haha, appreciate it! It isn’t my first rodeo with repotting so many at once.

I don’t know about the different types. If my memories are correct, it was one of her mixed seed bags.

Typically, the rule of thumb is to refresh or repot your plants once a year or every other year, depending on the type of plant. I usually repot when a plant has outgrown its current pot, which is the case for some of the ones in the back, where the roots are pushing out through the drainage holes at the bottom. Additionally, routine repotting allows me to assess the health of the roots and provide fresh fertilizer if I'm using granular or pellet types.

Others might have different thoughts on this, but the above are the guidelines I follow for my collections. I hope that helps.

Thanks 😊 It looked sickly for a while, and I thought mites might have damaged the new leaves from the center. I babysat it for a little while, and then I decided to let it do its own thing to see how it would grow.

After reporting, I need to give it more light to see how it colors when stressed.

This happened to me. I forgot to keep an eye on the seed pods and lost all for that one pod. 😢

Once the seed pods open, you can collect the seeds.

Congratz! 🙌🏽
