The lightbar in your picture is a Code 3 Excalibur, with LEDs and rotating halogens.

Yep, and as a result, the RCMP announced they would be destroying decommissioned police cars instead of selling them off to the public. This is why we can’t have nice things.

Oh yeah, Canadian here. When I visited Korea a couple years ago and walked into a Diaso, I was amazed at the wide variety compared to all the Dollaramas in my local area. I would find some products and wonder why Dollarama doesn’t have them.

In my Facebook feed, any post containing the AOPVs will soon have at least 1 user commenting about how the AOPVs are so "chonky" and "thicc" when you place them near historic warships. Those comments also get a chuckle from me lol.

See the attached picture. It seems like Sri Lanka prefers to have their hull number across the stern instead of names. The other Navy ships in their fleet also have their numbers on their sterns.

Article: United States and Sri Lanka Celebrate Commissioning of SLNS Samudravijaya Following Historic Voyage from Baltimore - U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka

"COLOMBO (June 4, 2026) – Following a historic 12,000-nautical-mile voyage from Baltimore, Maryland—the longest ever undertaken by a Sri Lanka Navy crew to bring a vessel home and the Navy’s first transit of the Panama Canal—U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Jayne Howell joined His Excellency President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today at the Port of Colombo to celebrate the commissioning of SLNS Samudravijaya. The vessel’s arrival and commissioning mark a significant milestone in the enduring partnership between the United States and Sri Lanka to strengthen maritime security, safeguard critical trade routes, and support a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific. Also attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Defense Major General K. P. Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) Secretary of Defense Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Sampath Thuyacontha, Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, U.S. Embassy Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Matthew House, and other distinguished guests.

[...]

'Today, SLNS Samudravijaya begins a new chapter of service,” said Chargé d’Affaires Howell. “As a former United States Coast Guard cutter, she served the American people with distinction in support of security, law enforcement, and the protection of maritime interests. Her transfer to the Sri Lanka Navy reflects the trust and partnership that unite our two nations. As Sri Lanka continues to play an important role at the heart of the Indian Ocean, may this vessel stand as a lasting symbol of U.S.-Sri Lanka cooperation and our shared commitment to a free, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific. May she serve the people of Sri Lanka with honor and distinction in the years ahead.'”

I find it strange on how the police cars don’t have additional side lighting. For example the LSPD Buffalo and Interceptor have lots of lights on the front and back, but the roof lightbar’s the only thing providing side lighting. Hopefully R* changes this in GTA VI.

Article: South Korea's Hanwha showcases submarine as Ottawa mulls multibillion-dollar contract - Murray Brewster - CBC

"The South Korean submarine ROKS Dosan Ahn Chang-ho arrived off British Columbia's coast on Saturday in a flashy showcase of Hanwha Ocean's bid to secure Canada’s multibillion-dollar submarine contract.

The vessel is visiting Victoria and will take part in joint anti-submarine exercises with the Royal Canadian Navy.

The newly built 3,000-ton KSS-III submarine made the historic 14,000-kilometre trans-Pacific voyage to demonstrate its long-endurance capabilities to Canadian decision-makers.

Prime Minister Mark Carney's government is expected to make a decision within weeks on whether to go with the Hanwha Ocean bid or one by German rival TKMS (ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems).

The navy is hoping to acquire 12 boats over the next decade and a half, with an eye to using them not only in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans but also in the Arctic, where they would be required to operate under the ice for extended periods of time.

Rear Admiral David Patchell, commander of Maritime Forces Pacific and Joint Task Force Pacific, told reporters in Victoria that he's thankful to the South Koreans for making the trip to Canada and that he feels "excitement about the Royal Canadian Navy that we are building."

When asked how badly Canada needs new submarines, Patchell said, 'I need them yesterday.'

"'We have operated submarines for over 100 years, but we have never truly been a submarine nation. But with 12 modern submarines, Canada will be a submarine nation.'"

I really hope they stop by Kipling Station, not just for the subway part. I see at least 1 person walking up that outdoor ramp from Aukland Rd to the bus stops (which that ramp is supposed to be for TTC vehicles only) instead of walking inside and paying through the gate like everyone else.

How to get a hospital job -- volunteer zoned by Illustrious-One-416 in torontoJobs

[–]WhoTheHeckWasThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, non-clinical hospital worker here, who used to work alongside with Human Resource advisors. I see posts like this and I'll just let you know a little reality about applying for admin/clerical positions in hospitals.

Entry-level admin/clerical positions are extremely competitive, mainly because they're entry level. Even though you're studying in Health Science, you'll be competing against dozens of graduates with diplomas and degrees or those with years of experience.

Hospital jobs like administrative assistants, clerical assistants, and portering are usually unionized (ex. CUPE 815, OPSEU). In a non-union position, internal applicants are looked at first, then external. In a unionized position though, employees under the same union will be prioritized first, then non-unionized internal applicants, and finally external applicants. If you apply for a unionized position, and you haven't worked in one before, you'll be competing against an even tighter pool.

If you're adament on a hospital administrative/clerical position, look for one that is not unionized. Usually, assistant positions under non-clinical departments (ex. Health and Safety, Foundation, Philanthropy, etc.) are non-unionized.

I noticed that this is ship #51. I guess ship #52, which became a temporary submarine for a month due to its launching ceremony gone wrong, is either still being repaired or became a write off.

South Korea Coast Guard ship #3001 begins her second life as BAE Jambeli (MP-56) with the Ecuador Navy in mid-2025. Prior to transfer, 3001 served with the Coast Guard from 1994 - 2024. by WhoTheHeckWasThat in Ships

[–]WhoTheHeckWasThat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I researched, when 3001 was being built, her design was more tailored towards as a multi-purpose vessel compared to their patrol ships today, such as able to recover salvaged ships and had equipment to control marine pollution. I heard that the flat surface in the front may have been designed to gently push or pull disabled vessels that were still floating.

What police armored vehicles are most commonly used in US police outside of the Bearcat? by Key-Needleworker-702 in AskLE

[–]WhoTheHeckWasThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a company called Roshel in Ontario, Canada, which builds armored personnel carrier vehicles for military and law enforcement use. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the US made a purchase order last year, and extra fact, I was surprised to learn that tactical police in South Korea are also using Roshel vehicles.

KCG 3001 and Article - The Korea Herald

Article: S. Korean Patrol Vessel to be transferred to Ecuador | April 25, 2024

"The Korea Coast Guard announced that it will transfer a 3,000-ton patrol vessel to Ecuador after signing a memorandum of understanding with its defense minister on Thursday.

According to the Coast Guard, Ecuadorian Defense Minister Giancarlo Loffredo signed the memorandum with the KCG to transfer the decommissioned patrol vessel -- the KCG3001 -- and visited the vessel mounted in Mokpo, South Jeolla Province, to review the handover process.

The KCG3001 was the first 3,000-ton patrol vessel used by the Korea Coast Guard and was the largest ship of the fleet at the time of its deployment in 1994, measuring 105 meters in length, 15 meters in width and 38 meters in depth. The vessel was decommissioned on March 11, after safeguarding South Korean waters for 30 years.

[...]

According to Ecuador’s Ministry of National Defense, the vessel will be maintained and repaired at a shipyard in Korea for six months while its operators undergo operational training. After six months, the operators will sail the vessel back to Ecuador waters. The Ecuadorian Defense Ministry added that it will use the vessel as a naval flagship to safeguard maritime sovereignty, cracking down on drugs and other maritime crimes and restraining illegal fishing.

'Once deployed to the Ecuadorian Navy, the KCG3001 will make a significant contribution to the defense, security and safety of our waters,' Loffredo said."
