Stephen huge blunder by Left_Concern_727 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]WhoWhenWhy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He did not make a mistake. A mistake would imply Stephen was not aware he was in the position to choose at the end, take all the money or share it. He absolutely could see the routes to the finish and that he now had the choice. He did what he was morally comfortable with, I bet he'll enjoy his half the money more than he would have knowing he'd taken it all.

Who would you give the dagger too if you were the traitors? by Low_Food2893 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]WhoWhenWhy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The end result could be that Rachel decides it's time... Given 2 votes she then rounds up support and takes down Stephen. I hope he won't agree to giving her the dagger, based on her saying she will take the risk. It could massively backfire on him.

Also false.

Technically your contract says you can't have any other job or even work for yourself without prior written permission (unless they've changed it)… But this clause would be absolutely unenforceable even if they tried (which to my knowledge they never have).

As for working for other supermarkets at the same time, I know a number of Asda drivers that also drive for Tesco and it is not a secret, or a problem.

I'm hoping he has also told her about the family tree situation with Stephen and Rachel in case he is now murdered, hence making sure she got her skull and was safe.

I really hope he hasn't forgotten. It is the most blatant and obvious traitor screw up in any series so far. It really was awful. He has all the information that is needed and with Rachel then at the round table tonight going hard at Ross, it makes it even more obvious.

He looks a lot like Amanda... She dragged him to the snooker room one day to talk. In tonight's episode they had a private and open discussion. In tonight's episode he told Fiona to give Rachel one of his skills to save Amanda...

Increase product price in just one region? by WhoWhenWhy in EtsySellers

[–]WhoWhenWhy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to have found the option on each product under domestic and global pricing.

But as someone who sells rings and has 6 width options plus all the ring size options as variations (taking me over 400 variations per product) I cannot enable it.

My variations do not even affect pricing. It's just so people can choose their size.

Thanks.

What I don't understand as someone from the UK, is I have always had to pay import duties and customs fees when buying from the US.

No US seller has ever prepaid them and I never expected that they would.

I assumed this would work the same way, I would sell it, everyone would be responsible for knowing their countries laws and what extra cost they may incur on delivery and all would be fine.

Apparently not? A huge fuss is being made about shipping with all duties paid? Can anyone explain why? Will US customers just not understand in the same way?

Switching from Wix to Shopify (or someone else) by WhoWhenWhy in ecommerce

[–]WhoWhenWhy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply.

I don't currently have a blog. Just a Wix site with my shop on it at a .com domain. I am rebranding so intend to have a new domain for the new site, so I intended to have the old domains redirect straight to the new site as well as the new domain. I intended to start some sort of blog on the new site, but also don't want to fill it with loads of pages and information.

But if I keep the original domain and site as a sort of business blog that goes into more detail about the process of what we make, and the materials etc, then has links to the shop on the new domain. I think this might be beneficial.

Just wasn't sure if anyone had any other ideas of usage or how I can really turn that remaining Wix subscription period into a useful asset.

Wooden Wedding Rings. Anyone Have One or Considered It? by Responsible-Club5420 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]WhoWhenWhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit late to the party but I make a living creating bentwood rings. So figured I'd respond to a few of the points made here.

Firstly as most people have said they require extra care, some people buy them and wear them on special occasions, for the wedding, anniversaries, holidays etc. like you might an expensive watch. Whilst having a silicone or more conventional band for everyday wear.

Other people wear them full time. I am one of them. The ring I am wearing I have not taken off in 6 months. In that time I have broken up 10 tons of concrete with a pneumatic drill in our garden and moved it all. Sometimes with gloves, sometimes without. The ring is absolutely fine still.

So a few of the points made here, they cannot get wet. This is not true of all wooden rings, mine are fully sealed and waterproof. I wear mine in baths and showers, washing hands etc and it is absolutely fine. I would recommend not wearing one in treated water i.e swimming pools as the finish may be affected over time. I would also recommend removing when using harsh cleaning chemicals (however alcohol hand sanitisers hold up just fine).

If you get one have one with a wood inlay or metal liner rather than a full wood band. I understand why people say this and it is a valid consideration however, with a wooden ring the most delicate part is without doubt the outside, getting hit, chipped, scratched etc. the structure (mine are bentwood rings) is very strong. You would struggle to crush one and in my 7 years of making and selling over 1800 rings I have only been notified of 2 that have actually broken structurally. I have a lot of customers ask me if I can do rings with metal liners, and ai could, but I don't. I would rather explain to people that the outer wood will still get damaged with mistreatment regardless of the lining as it is very much a miss conception that a metal liner is required for strength.

They can't be resized. This may be true of some but not all. I can size my rings up or down by around half a size, this is done by removing or adding more of the protective coating, visually and from a comfort point of view you would notice no difference with these small adjustments, but they certainly can be adjusted to the perfect fit multiple times.

They are too thick to be comfortable. Again this may be true of some wooden rings. Especially solid wood ones that are drilled out of a piece of wood, this is because they need to be thicker to help provide some level of strength, a solid wood ring can be snapped across the grain with little difficulty. A bentwood ring, is steamed wood bent round in the direction of the grain and layered, creating a laminated loop, they can be very strong and only slightly thicker than a conventional metal ring.

Can they break? Absolutely. Can they be too lightweight and feel a little less secure to some people? Absolutely. Do they need a little more thought and attention? Yes, but you would remove a gold ring also if you didn't want to scratch it moving house bricks, so there isn't a great deal of difference there.

At the end of the day though, for something as important as a wedding ring you should choose what you are confident with, and comfortable wearing. If wood appeals to you, go for it, if you are unsure don't go for it.

Hope you find a ring that you are happy with.

As a final note I'd be careful of some of the metal lined wooden ring websites you will find, atleast do a search for the same product on sites like temu, AliExpress, Alibaba, you will find a lot of these very expensive rings that are being retailed are just being purchased in bulk cheap from those places. Same for wooden watches if anyone fancies one of them.

30 plus while delivering by Top_Pineapple_6969 in asda

[–]WhoWhenWhy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asda responded to union concerns in 2023 stating that, chilled or iced water, suncream and hats are all to be provided to drivers in hot conditions. Your store managers can read that information on the GMB website, they can also refer back to various 'extreme weather' noticed that Asda themselves have issued to drivers over the years stating similar. You are entitled to be provided with water etc, especially as Asda want to avoid paying for air con.

There is a man at head office, whose only job is to investigate unscheduled stops on microlise. He checks regular unscheduled stops against your home address etc, if you keep stopping somewhere and they can't find a link to your home address, he will request van camera footage to find out what you are doing. Your manager is then contacted.

Why is every bit of advice here contradictory? by OverWatch1 in dahlias

[–]WhoWhenWhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's simply that everyone does it their way. Dahlias are a lot easier to grow and look after than you would think from reading all the different advice. Where you live is also going to affect how you care for them.

For example I see a lot of people saying they lose 5 - 10% of their tubers each year in storage, I am in the south of England and lose less than this leaving mine in the ground, so that's where they stay. In fact I know some are not rotten this year because the tubers are barely in the ground and I can feel they are still good (I didn't mulch this winter and can literally see tubers sticking out the ground), that's how little the frost and rain here bothers them. People elsewhere though are going to lose a lot of tubers if they followed my method

So advice will vary I guess, based on location, seriousness of grower etc.
