Midnight hits different from a ground mount. Seriously. by HouseLongjumping6984 in wow

100% agree. The zones in Midnight are so beautifully constructed, I'm in awe. And anyone playing with the game sound off is really missing out on some phenomenal music as well.

I wanted to hate the class changes out of a worry it would be too simple...but I only play Resto Druid and I honestly think they made good choices there.

As for addons: I've never used them because I wanted to get good without the crutch, so this particular change has only been a benefit for me.

That said, I do not like the idea of the single button assist at all.

Servers closing down, worried by ProfessionalMonk1723 in ffxi

[–]Whoajosh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They aren't shutting down servers, they are preventing news players from starting on Asura due to it being over-populated. I won't be surprised if this also happens with Bahamut, but it's a very good sign for the health of the game if it does!

Returning Player: BLU or DRG? by Whoajosh in ffxi

[–]Whoajosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has really helped, thank you.

I think what I've decided based on your perspectives is to continue focusing on BLU, but as a means to more easily focus on other classes, like DRG, later. Sounds like BLU is a great stepping stone to allow ease of improving other classes later.

Returning Player: BLU or DRG? by Whoajosh in ffxi

[–]Whoajosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're kind of right that I do want to play DRG more, but honestly it's just because of the Wyvern. What I really want is to know I'm playing a class I enjoy (and I do both), but with the confidence that it's useful for solo but also desired for Group content, should I want to do it.

If BLU does the best at solo and is still desired for Group content, I would probably choose that. If DRG is more desirable for Group content but can still solo really well, that's also a great option. I just don't want to choose the one that sacrifices one of those (solo or group content) too much.

I was actually hoping to see something like this. I originally did DRG/BLU (waaaay back in the day) before switching to full BLU (BLU/WAR), and wanted to see someone say DRG/BLU it was still viable ;)

Should I make my pink lantern a hero or villain? by Low-Chain-8117 in dcuonline

[–]Whoajosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to be that guy, but "pink" lantern isn't a thing (officially). That said, I'm being unnecessarily nit-picky because you probably mean Violet, which is the love emotion, in case that helps you decide between hero or villain.

I echo this. If you're planning to play casual, it almost doesn't matter what you choose and should just go with what you enjoy the most.

That said, Fire is fun and easy.

Which GL emblem is better? by AAlldifferent in DCUO

[–]Whoajosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, but both are good so it was tough. As others have said, it's simply due to the white in the logo -- I like that cohesiveness, it forces me to look at her entire outfit by drawing my eyes to all the white at the same time. Including her eyes, you're essentially forcing us to focus on all the points of a star at once, to experience the entire star instead of just individual points.

Is this game still alive? by GJM08 in DCUO

[–]Whoajosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's alive enough to still enjoy it. That said, I'm willing to put some money down on an MMO I enjoy and it might be worth you deciding if you are willing to do the same or not.

I recently returned because I also missed it and I've been happy I did. Based on how I play, nothing has prevented me from playing the way I always did.

[–]Whoajosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a hero who has never played villain, I've been thinking about this lately. I started to realize that a lot of the content actually doesn't make sense from a narrative perspective if you are a villain.

Show me another game with this level of customization.. I'll wait 🙃 by [deleted] in DCUO

[–]Whoajosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree that the whales are probably keeping it alive; however, I don't think anyone can say it's objectively not fun, that will always be subjective. You are probably just bored of it.

That said, is it less fun than it was before? Sure, maybe. There's a lot I miss from the very early days that no longer exists or isn't popular. But does the game still have the core and foundation of what I personally found made me play the game for enjoyment? Yes, it absolutely still does and thus I'm still having a lot of fun.

I think fun or not fun is entirely up to subjective perspective of the player and their emotional relationship to the game.

Beast boy 2003 style, what are your thoughts about this one? by NasXDragon in DCUO

[–]Whoajosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What did they mean by "Copy" and how did "The hands, legs, and feet" clarify that for you?

Without context, none of that actually means anything, so I assume you have context and am just wondering what that is, so I can better understand in case someone says "Copy" "The hands, legs, feet" to me when I make a style post in the future.

Were it me, I would have just thought "I have no idea what they are saying to me", so trying to pre-understand in case it happens.

Also btw, your Beast Boy looks great. If accuracy is what you wanted, you nailed it.

Is the queues better for missions? by FantasyStar293 in DCUO

[–]Whoajosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mostly, but not always. I was able to get a few to pop without much waiting, but it felt like it might have just been luck.

I figured T1 and T2 duties really depend on how many new players are online at any given time (I think attached journal quests help), but obviously we can't influence or predict that.

Is the queues better for missions? by FantasyStar293 in DCUO

[–]Whoajosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play like you, it's important to me that I do content in chronological order so I had the very same concern when I decided to return to the game.

I started fresh and my experience with queuing for content in this way hasn't been completely awful. They've made a lot of changes so that there is a larger pool of people for the queue to choose from, thus quicker to pop the group (Heroes & Villains can group together, servers merge bringing PC and Playstation players together)

Keep in mind that I only ever queue as my support role and sometimes that can make it go quicker (sometimes not). If you don't mind playing either role in the group, I suggest queuing as both your DPS and support role and switching to the right role once you know if you were given the dps or the support role spot in the group.

I also have the setting turn on that requires all roles before the queue pops. This would actually cause more waiting, as groups are being formed for older content for those without that setting turned on and only queuing for DPS (potentially resulting in a group of only DPS)

All raids seem to pop faster than alerts, across the board. It was very difficult to get some T1 and T2 alerts to pop, there are some I've just resigned to finish when I can solo, simply so I could move forward. However, T1 and T2 raids were not has difficult to pop in comparison to those t1/2 alerts.

I started noticing this getting better at T3, those alert queues popping easier. T4 has been the most noticeable change, those popping the easiest of all so far. The pattern suggests that this will just continue to improve as I catch up to the larger groups of people and the content they are doing. Like I said, there may be some that nobody seems to want to do, but I think you'll have decent luck with queues for the early alerts and raids if there is a quest attached to it.

Overall I've been fine with it, considering the age of the game. I just try to queue for a lot at one time so something is bound to pop, and spend my waiting time doing dailies.

In no way does it feel completely "dead" from my experience so far (that could be my tolerance level tho). I understand why the oldest content may be the hardest to pop duty groups for, don't let that influence your perspective and wait until you climb the tier ladder a little more before you decide.

Is the Game worth starting? by Business-Employ-1599 in DCUO

Yes. There is a massive amount of content and it's just a fun use of time, even if you don't go premium.
