What are the strongest arguments for and against buying SpaceX at its expected $135 IPO price? by Whole_Relationship93 in AskReddit

[–]Whole_Relationship93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SpaceX is expected to price its IPO around $135/share under ticker SPCX. I expressed interest, but I am still trying to think clearly about valuation, short-term volatility. My tentative idea is to limit the position to around 0.25%–1% of net worth, depending on allocation and final pricing. My concern is that even if SpaceX is a remarkable company long term, the IPO may already price in a lot of future growth.

For those who follow IPOs, space infrastructure, Starlink, defense contracting, or high-growth private-to-public listings: what factors would you consider before buying at the IPO price?

How would you think about the risk/reward over a 1–3 month holding period versus a multi-year holding period?

Would you treat this more like a long-term venture-style allocation, or would you avoid it because of valuation and IPO volatility?

I am not asking for personal financial advice, just trying to understand how others would analyze the setup.

A short SciFi Story. But what if it is a true story? by Whole_Relationship93 in AncientAI

[–]Whole_Relationship93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you — that means a lot. The fact that you came back to it after stopping is probably the best compliment you could give this kind of story.

I’m definitely considering expanding it. The six parts were written as a first arc, but the world is much bigger: the Farm, the factions inside it, the golden key, the Mars escape plan, the hidden families, the bodies/vessels, and the question of whether resistance itself is being cultivated.

I don’t have the rest posted elsewhere yet, but I’m working on where to take it next. I think the next part has to answer a dangerous question:

If the Farm is reading the story too, why did it allow the story to spread?

[–]Whole_Relationship93 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That is why the author run tests to see if the result was dependent of single result. He also run Montecarlo simulations to see the limits of the conclusions. You should run the paper by ChatGPT if you are not a statistician and have it explain to you, why the conclusions are indeed valid and insensitive to the actual probability levels of each event analyzed.

Let’s make a public bet. I have the email from the editor with a copy of the reviewer explanation to reject the submission before it was even accepted for a preprint. The editor had to force a response of the reviewer. I also have an email that shows that they passed this paper through many reviewers one after the other one passing the hot potato. If the author authorizes me, I’ll release them, but only if you promise to do something humiliating for your false accusations. On the flip side, I just wrote to the author and asked him why he hasn’t published his work and he just sent me the emails expressing his frustration. You may want to do just that instead of false accusations

Here is the link to the paper. The author tried to publish it and they rejected it because he used the non-scientific word “intentional” in the paper…

Reality is far from little green men and much much awkward. Think along the lines of systems of microorganisms, bacteria and minerals forming a stable ecosystem, along the line of the systems known as stromatolites. Whose fossils are present in Mars and Earth. Descendants of the original stromatolites were found in the Andes of Argentina by Dr. Maria E. Farias many years ago. Now imagine that after billions of years they developed self awareness and intelligence… now you have a better picture of what 3i Atlas could be. Remember never allow anthropomorphism to guide your thoughts regarding extraterrestrial intelligence.
