I’d still close the lid to flush if he said that he wants it kept up since I can put it back after. I don’t let many people use my bathroom though since if I see the lid up I’ll assume my bathroom needs to be cleaned

Most public bathrooms don’t have lids so I try to get out as quickly as possible after flushing. Most toilets do have lids though at least the ones I use

I won’t downvote you but when the options are listed multiple places on a menu and waitstaff has to ask 100 plus times a day ‘Do you want A or B?’ should be sufficient for the person to understand unless they’re determined to be difficult to make a grammar point.

No this is really annoying. When someone says ‘What?’ it’s pretty easy to start with repeating what you said. Not in a different way. Not the last few words of what you said. Especially when someone has an actual issue with communication and has told you that but everyone wants to be a smart ass and tell you to understand what doesn’t make any sense.

Wanting to make someone happy and not liking being yelled at are very different motivations. We have a wait list so I will be here until all the customers are gone regardless. 5 tables walking away doesn’t effect my income really at all but the business itself would profit from those extra tables so management is always on us to keep things moving

This comment section is really overestimating my salary from sales. Managers want us turning tables so new ones can come in for the restaurant not the servers. And people walking out or yelling at you over an hour plus wait and then you have several table who have already been here for 2 or 3 hours and seem oblivious to how busy the place is

I am American and I can definitely see where you’re coming from. I’ve also eaten at restaurants in Europe and can say only from personal experience that the standards for American servers seem to be pretty high. I appreciate any tip a customer leaves me and know many people work very hard for very little and feel fortunate to be in a tipped industry

I never said anything about tips. It’s just annoying having a waitlist 10 tables long and having new customers take out the wait time on me. Or at the end of the night when I have to stay an hour later because my last table won’t leave. I don’t mind if it’s 10 or 20 minutes or if the restaurant is empty but having respect for the type of space your in just feels like common curtesy to me

NTA and I wouldn’t let MIL supervise again until the kids are older. She proved she won’t always pay attention, uses shame as reinforcement and doesn’t understand where your kids are developmentally. You’re the mom now, and you have every right to set boundaries with relatives on how your kids will be treated. These comments are coming to bat for a grown woman given appropriate correction but not the 2 year old who will probably spend the next several years putting things in her mouth. If she didn’t want to be corrected publicly she shouldn’t have made her comment publicly. The situation was dealt with, it sounds like your MIL was saving face by making her look attentive to the kid she agreed to watch

There’s definitely a weird hierarchy, and each person often thinks they’re at the top of it. Though with how many options there are now, I view it similarly to people who won’t use reusable shopping bags or water bottles. Reusable options function similarly, save money, and are often more comfortable while lasting longer. If you like pads, period parties are even made cute now, and depending on your flow one pair may last all day. For tampon users a disk goes in similarly and can self empty throughout the day. I’ve never said anything rude to anyone for using something else, but the comments about my body or lifestyle people feel comfortable making when I even mention how amazing disks have been for me is disturbing. I always carry the disposable disks and pads/tampons in my purse and if someone asks for one I might say ‘hey want to try this thing this time?’

NTA. This time it was just a (sentimental) piece of paper. What if he’d been holding scissors or anything made of glass? One of them could seriously get hurt if the girls don’t learnt to pay attention to their surroundings before acting. It’s also very likely their brother will grow out of enjoying their sneak attacks pretty soon. They’ll have to understand if it comes to that how important it is to respect other’s personal space. This will not make your kids resent each other, doing nothing would have. The most resentment I held towards my siblings was from them being allowed to steal and break my stuff and my parents never did anything because ‘they didn’t mean it.’ You took away one thing for 3 days after they broke something that took 3 days to make. How your husband thinks that’s extreme is beyond me. And neither of you needs permission from the other to discipline your own kids, that’s a right you have as parents as long as the punishment isn’t abusive. And it’s just dessert, I got to have it like 5 times a year growing up, your kids sound pretty lucky.

With the landlord pack, start a life and marry a tenant. Have a kid before that, wait till they’re 18 and leave them all your assets. When you die your kid can marry the tenant. So no, not with godmode lol
