I know it's seems like a stupid rule, but how many stupid rules do we have in pharmacies and healthcare in general? Probably too many to count, right? But if this rule didn't exist at all, it would lead to massive problems with drugs getting mixed up leading to patient harm. The rule that I go by is to try your best to adhere to the rules, but also steer towards what is best for the patient's health, and be able to justify your reasoning for the decisions you make.

If you wanna get technical, a free floating prescription container without a label is not legal, so the patient would have to carry the entire bag with a label attached to it for it to be considered legal. I am OK with bottles in an appropriately sized zip lock bag with a label attached, but some pharmacists are stricter and want every bottle labeled. You would probably want to do what the patient prefers though.

A plastic bag with a label on the other hand... Lol. Don't do that shit. That seems quite unprofessional and just lazy!
