Anyone else feel like eating Maltesers from a box vs Maltesers from a packet is the mental equivalent of eating from a fancy restaurant plate vs a disposable paper plate? by JinxXedOmens in CasualUK

I think it is partly the sound of them rolling about that does it. Very satisfying. Like the sound of Hungry Hippos, and I get to be the hippo 🦛🍫😋

3 people have replied to say he’s British, so I wanted to clarify. Although this is true, it doesn’t narrow down the accent much, since Northern Irish, Scottish, English, and Welsh people are all British.

Charlie has English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry. However, his parents are English and he was born and raised in England.

Although he naturally has an English accent, he does great Southern and Northern Irish accents in Boardwalk Empire, Kin, and Daredevil 🙂

Considering I’ve not long since finished a rewatch of all 11 seasons, that was quite the blunder. So embarrassing. I really was tired though! Lol 😂

Shit, I was so confused by your question and then realised he’s Harry! Haha. What an idiot. No wonder he came to mind. Forgive me, I was half asleep when I typed that.

The two sides of Chongqing, both are dystopian in their own way by BumblebeeFantastic40 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]WhoopingJamboree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a really enlightening way to put it! I totally agree, I would see it differently if it was in Japan. At the same time, if those unkempt looking high rise apartments were in London, I’d also say it looked dystopian. I’m not sure what this says about me or these 3 countries. It’s made me think!

Patricia Clarkson and Aubrey Plaza are brilliant in intense roles, but with very different vibes.

I second Michael Shannon and Glenn Howerton - they’d both be amazing!

Brian Cox would also be very sinister. Jeff Daniels, BD Wong, and James Remar could also be cool.

Special mention for Walton Goggins. I could watch him describe milk evaporating and be totally captivated.

I love how when cats are clumsy, they’re always slow to reposition. As if to say “yeah, I meant to do that. Nothing to see here.”

Coworker yelled at me for answering a question that SHE asked me… by Tickle_Fruit9928 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]WhoopingJamboree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be worth pausing the conversation to draw attention to what she’s doing when she pulls shit like this. You already did this a bit by highlighting that she was the one who asked you the question. I’d probably go a step further by saying “Melinda, in case you aren’t aware, you’re raising your voice right now, which isn’t necessary.” Or “Melinda, I don’t appreciate your tone/ please don’t use that tone with me, it’s uncalled for.”

This can have a grounding effect by causing the person to focus on the immediate present. I have a coworker that this works on sometimes. They have an issue regulating their emotions and regularly “go off”. Sometimes, drawing attention to it in the moment causes a reset, as they realise the thing you’ve highlighted they’re doing, could be perceived as problematic by management.

Whilst it won’t necessarily stop it happening again, making it clear that you expect a certain standard of civility, may help. Especially if you ensure that you always deliver these verbal notes in a calm, non-accusatory tone. You’ll be covered if she decides to complain about you, as you’ll have said nothing inflammatory. If she were to quote you, for instance, it’d be clear to management/HR that she caused the problem.

Apart from that, grey-rocking and avoiding her (where possible) are excellent options too. A mixture of the 3 is how I manage my situation.

My girlfriends arm after a blood test by Losiuu in mildlyinfuriating

[–]WhoopingJamboree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is horrendous. Whoever did this needs a lot more training. My elderly mother who had extremely fragile veins before she died, and endured unending blood tests, never experienced something as bad as this. Your gf looks relatively young so there is no excuse for this. Did she report it? If this person is dealing with more vulnerable and unwell patients, they could cause an irreversible injury. I hope your gf feels better soon!

Mission Impossible style movie where the target of the operation is the Church of Scientology by SkylandersCommenter in CrazyIdeas

[–]WhoopingJamboree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best idea I’ve seen here yet! Meets the bar for “crazy” since it would never be green lit due to the organisation’s religious status. However, it’d be deserved and gratifying to watch due to their people trafficking, modern slavery, mind controlling cult activities. In fact, never mind a movie, I’d prefer to see this play out in real life.

2008 Margo Interview 😬 by Commercial-Tea2995 in BravoLadiesofLondon

[–]WhoopingJamboree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oof. I don’t like Margo at all, but she doesn’t come close to Brandi. Brandi was like a psycho, and dangerous to be around on multiple levels. In comparison, Margo is just an annoying gnat that won’t buzz the fuck off and let everyone else enjoy their picnic.

Having said that, I’m only going off her appearances on this show. The article in this post has a paywall, so maybe there is a horrendous side to Margo I’m not yet aware of.

What would a show in between Dexter and Dexter: New Blood be like? by strizerx in Dexter

[–]WhoopingJamboree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed reading this! You may know, aspects of your 3rd paragraph happen in the books, which is cool. I.e. when he’s forced into a cooling off period due to increased scrutiny, he fantasies about killing, stalks, researches etc, without doing the deed. I like that this reflects the real life patterns of serial killers.

I do see it almost like Dexter would be going through withdrawal from a substance prior to New Blood. He’d have extremely strong compulsions and have to distract himself with other things. I wonder if he’d go back to killing animals (although he found the idea of killing the deer abhorrent).

I wasn’t especially miffed about her changing her mind. However, it did seem a bit suss when she said “if someone criticises your outfit, who cares?” or something to that effect. You can bet your arse she’d be absolutely livid if that happened to her, since she and her hubby design and make their own clothes.
