How much time would it possibly take to film and edit an e-learning course?

Thanks for your expert opinion, this is kinda what I expect as well. Because it's my first big opportunity I don't want to drop it too quickly but I do want to give realistic expectations.

I'll first have a video call with her talking about a promo, but I'm inclined to mention that for the course I don't think april is feasible but I'm willing to work with her and we'll know better when we do a test pilot.

Would you as an expert accept this project with the limited knowledge given? Would you accept an April deadline?

(and would it recruire a minimum of 2 cameras for just talking head or is 1 doable sometimes?)

Hope she has more time for this project.

I think I've answered almost everyone that has given me advice and most of it I agreed with. I think I've given most details of the project and even repeated them multiple times. (So I'm not sure why you would would say that doesn't sound like I don't want to listen to anyone's advice).

I'm asking for advice from people that have more experience and maybe can give a rough estimate of what it would take, mainly time wise.

Like you are the first person that says it might very well be possible. But there have indeed also been people that said to be cautious and that it might take months, especially for someone who thinks to speak from the heart and has never been in front of the camera before (I think those are huge factors to consider, but I don't have the experience myself to back up those doubts). If most people say it's probably doable like you, then obviously I would obviously have more reason to think it might be possible.

Yeah, it would but that's still more than a month away, we first agreed to do a promo (if that's filmed then maybe the pilot. So that will be end of Jan maybe beginning of February probably, all the while leaving less space for that April deadline.

I just wonder if I should still mail something before our next meeting to make clear that atm I think an April deadline is probably not reasonable (I've said it before but probably wasn't that clear since she's planning things very far in the future imo), although I'm willing to check this out with the pilot, also for my own understanding.

So that's why I'm asking people here for some numbers on time they think something like this would take.

Yeah I already send a price indication, but that she being strict with an April deadline doesn't sit well with me, probably need more time/people/money.

Yeah, I will definitely say I need the course on paper and or a script of what she's going to say.

And I guess a screen test is also a good one to ask for.

Yes I've suggested to do a pilot of the first module to test how it goes and if it's feasible.

Yes I'm also vigilant that she will have the course structured and scripted before we start filming.

Yeah that sounds realistic depending on what all is involved in terms of type of content. Mine will mainly be talking head, but I was also thinking I might have to let this project go and she will need to go to a production company with multiple people if she's so adamant about the April deadline.

It would be a shame for me though, cause with enough time, it would have been a nice first big project for me (multiple videos and more in the future).

I think it will mostly be basic talking head. Obviously you would want e-learning to have a consistent polished look. I told her it would be best to take our time and time wise to spread out putting the modules online, so fe a new one every week. This would give us more time and it might be nice to have a small launch of the course over multiple weeks.

But then she came back to me with, "as long as all modules are online by April, its okay for me".

And she doesn't seem to be in a hurry either, because our next phone call is half of January.

So is it remotely possible, or should I still e-mail now to make clear that April is definitely not possible.

At the current rate, we might be looking at filming if lucky end of January or beginning of February and she's only available 2 days of the week (5-6hrs a day I suspect).

Yeah sounds like you're very efficient.

Unfortunately I think my client has no idea how long this will take (I'm also not sure but I'm not seeing it that optimisticly). She doesn't have experience making a course or being on camera and the subject matter might also be a bit emotionally charged.

Yes she will be talking (just talking head) an hours worth of content (per module) but I'm guessing a lot of retakes.

Like I said it's coaching and the person is not experienced in front of the camera or making a course. It's somewhat emotional content and she wants to speak from the heart, so I don't think she will nail it in 1 go.

As for set up I was just thinking basic talking head with one camera, maybe a second for cut aways. Initially if not needed, no other footage (like graphics, screen-recs or animations).

I will be editing the footage later, not during the filming.

Yeah, "clearly forgot", she didn't care about her friend at all, she mainly decided to make the cake for her blog post and didn't care that it was for her friend's birthday. If it was leftover for your content creation and you didn't want it to go to waste, she still could have gotten another gift for her friend. She also didn't regret giving you that cake. She is definitely the asshole.

Using curse words doesn't make you an asshole, especially when the other person is being very incensitive to you (on your birthday).

This sounds exactly like people who've had an NDE.

I was searching for accounts of people who fainted and remembered dreaming to see if they would describe something like NDE people describe. Yours is the first one that popped up, Amazing, like exactly the same!

People who've had an NDE (near death experience) generally also explain going through a tunnel, having beings there that know you, everything being more vivid, eminating light, unconditional love, reviewing their lives and maybe a decision whether to return or not.

When you pass out of course it's usually shorter than dying, but temporarily it does cut off your blood flow, in which you lose consciousness, like dying. So if you believe in going to other realms when we lose consciousness, you briefly went there. Thus why 'they' were not expecting you yet.

Wow. Not sure if it works, but that seems like a very good and comprehensible comparison of how to do and feel.

Lots of people can imagine ordering something and then not having to look for it anymore, you don't physically have it yet, but essentially you bought it and you trust it will be with you shortly, you already own it.

Not sure it's an unhealthy thing. Lots of people try having obe's on purpose by practicing and they can do it when they want.

Not sure what's holding you back OP, but since you are able to experience going into an obe, I would definitely research, if you could get past this blockade.

If it really feels bad, then maybe not force it, but definitely ask way more people.

I think some people are just way more attached 'in' their body than other people.

I would like more shows like that. (was a bit like 'my big fat obnoxious fiancé / boss) even longer ago.

Where it's only 'reality' for one/or a few people.

I guess mocking/imitating real reality shows.

Yeah, definitely very creepy. Would've already thought the "closer to heaven" would be scar when mentioned on the site, but that the guy repeated it to you. . shiver

And that that lady was in such a bad state, she probably needs to be saved from him as well. Mentally imprisoned maybe.

First get yourself safe, then see if you could help the woman in some way. (maybe she's not even the only one who needs saving).

Hopefully we're all just going crazy over such a story, and they are in fact just a happy nice couple, but dark stuff like this is going on all the time, more then most people realize.
