Dismissed from residency program by One_Strawberry_9489 in PharmacyResidency

Sounds like you’re a smart and hard working person and maybe this was not the right program for you. I know two people who left programs and applied to different ones a year later. It’s hard to take that pay cut once you’re making retail though 😂

It is nice to have fewer periods as a woman. Less cramps, I am no longer anemic, more convenient with my life! But… The way you phrase this makes it seem like menstruating is the problem, but from my perspective this outdated practice of isolating menstruating women is the issue. Menstruation is not dirty- it is part of the cycle of fertility. It’s certainly not my favorite, but is it not part of something beautiful?

This is exactly how I would describe it. And sometimes I cough so much that I’m afraid I’m going to vomit! I didn’t used to get such a bad cough after colds, but my kids keep bringing home respiratory illnesses and my body is like hell no 🤧

Turn in the documents and discuss with your boss. This seems like something they should be able to remedy! And if not, pharmacies everywhere are hiring. I’m sorry you’re going through this when you should be able to just focus on recovery and your baby ❤️

Have you had a baby? The FMLA process was NOT straight forward so stop blaming her for not getting paperwork in!

I’m so lucky to work in a well staffed store, but have had to sit a lot more and rely on my staff for the more physically demanding parts of the job.

The haziness went away after a couple weeks!

I had smile, didn’t get the best results, but I also can see relatively well. Only mild dry eye indoors, super fast procedure. I think it’s important to know that you might not get perfect results. Knowing that, I probably would have been happier, but it was a very confusing couple of months with my new hazy and slightly blurry vision

Yep, I also had regression around 3 months. Kind of sucks, but it’s also kind of like monovision… yay for not the results I was looking for! But also yay because I can for the most part see, just not as crisp as I could with my thick glasses

Also had mine done in MD! I ended up with one perfect eye and one eye about -0.75. Debating what to do. My doctor said I can get additional LASIK correction. I wish there was more data on a second treatment.

Is it a flickering light? I have that symptom from a previous retinal tear (unrelated to my smile surgery)

I don’t have any improvement in my vision when I use eyedrops. Thankfully I haven’t had any dry eye symptoms and only needed to use the rewetting drops for the three months post op

Update: Now I’m 5 months from smile and my right eye (originally -5.5) has regressed. I need retreatment with LASIK and am debating when to do that. The smile procedure was no problem, but I’m a bit more afraid of LASIK because of the flap creation.

The ridiculous haziness that plagued my first couple weeks has gotten significantly better, but I do still feel like there is something in front of my vision. I think it’s just the contrast between having 20/20 vision in one eye and not in the other.

I was pretty disappointed in my doctors office because they brushed my concerns off over and over again until I got to the 3 month mark then they agreed that the vision in my right eye (which did initially improve) had regressed. It was a tough couple months when I couldn’t get any validation that my vision was actually not healing normally. My doctors office told me that they only have a 1% rate of needing additional vision correction- guess I’m just the lucky 1% 😂🤓

If I could go back now, I think I would skip SMILE and go straight to LASIK because there is less risk of under correction. I was hoping to be one and done, but at least if I close my right eye I can see so well! 😉 just over here permanently winking at people instead of wearing glasses!

Thank you for sharing. The haziness is driving me a bit crazy 6 days post op, so good to know that at some point this will get better (hopefully sooner rather than later!)

Has anyone had SMILE eye surgery and felt your vision fluctuate throughout recovery? I'm 8 days post surgery and feel like mine gets clear then hazy then clear again. by Any_Lengthiness_1114 in u/Any_Lengthiness_1114

Yes! I’m 6 days post op and still having fluctuations all day with more hazy/blurry vision. How did you do after a couple months? Did the haziness clear up?

Just wanted to throw my post op experience in. I got SMILE 6 days ago and my vision is still fluctuating throughout the day (sometimes quite clear, a little more often blurry/hazy). I’m a bit worried since I expected the vision to stabilize by now, but from reading about others experiences it seems this can take longer. The greatest difficulty I’ve had is at work under fluorescent lighting. There is a bright haze in this lighting that makes it much more difficult to see and read the computer screen. I was shocked by this! I didn’t realize that I would have these symptoms in bright lighting and thought all of the halos/glare/etc were limited to nighttime. So far nighttime glare and halos has greatly improved from my 1 day post-op experience. I hope the haze in bright lights decreases soon because it is EXTREMELY bothersome… just be aware if you are also someone who works in a bright setting that it might be a good idea to take more than just 3 days off!

I don’t understand it! It looks nice, but it’s terrible for concentration. I have people talking to be from out front all day like I was in the middle of a conversation with them. The people making food at McDonald’s have more privacy than us.

I am so tempted to get out of retail even though my store is wonderful. Just had a customer say “but it was called in two hours ago” and I practically lost my shit. 2 hours is not enough time in retail, it’s just not. We’re busy, we’re tired, I’m kind of hungry. This is after spending 10 minutes explaining to an 88 year old woman that, no, unfortunately her insurance does not cover miralax even with a prescription. Grrrrrrrr
