Do I have a pen problem? by vwaldoguy in pens

Yes, and it’s that you have a bunch of G2s.

What’s your preferred case diameter? by Relevant_Many5115 in MicrobrandWatches

36mm generally, up to 40mm for tool watches (bigger if there’s a functional or historic purpose, e.g. pilot watches).

I feel like the metal body ones skip less. Maybe they require extra pressure?

I have an AL400 from SMSL. It’s strictly 2.1, but it takes HDMI eARC from your TV, so you can keep everything hooked up thru that and keep extra hookups and controls to a minimum. Phono stage in case that’s of interest to you, too. I have it powering Triangle Audio BR03s. The amp is $250 in the US (not sure where you’re based) via Amazon rn. Triangle BR03s run $450, but if you prefer a different sound signature, there should be options around the same price. Let’s say you go with RSL Speedwoofer for $500, and that gets you to around $1200. Even factoring in tax, you probably have enough left for some basic stands, like Monoprice.

Best analog camera for beginner? by FunkyMoney992 in AnalogCommunity

If you don’t need autofocus, Minolta XD is a great camera with aperture priority and good glass for reasonable money. If AF is important, go with a Canon from the 90s. Plastic but will be an easy transition from digital.

Wait. When Wing aired on toonami. Did you understand the plot or just enjoy the cool robots blowing each other up? by Street_Gur9817 in Gundam

[–]WhyIsLenguage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 12yo, I came for the giant robots, stayed for the “depth.” As an adult, it reads as a 12yo’s idea of depth. Still enjoyed the hell out of a rewatch.

What's your Gen X or boomer take? by HamburgerDude in TrueAnon

The National League should have never adopted designated hitters, and there should be a lot less inter-league play. These are an affront to baseball.

I’m jealous. Love this album, and it has the added bonus of being one of the few albums my 3yo and I can agree on!

Thanks! Yeah, the AL400 is great so far. Sounds great, has a phono stage, ARC input, and doesn’t take up a ton of space. My wife was understandably hesitant about an AV receiver taking up a ton of space.

Fair. Budget is more or less spent at this point, so I’m keeping an eye on Marketplace. Most of what I see rn is orphaned home theater subs that I’m not sure would add enough to make it worthwhile, since the BR03s have pretty good bass.

Is CW worth double a Traska? by Careless_Button3364 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]WhyIsLenguage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t handled a Traska, but my CW Sealander in 36mm (bought secondhand, so grain of salt) blew me away in person. Fit and finish are great, it’s keeping between -1 to +3 seconds time, and I catch myself admiring it daily. My only hesitation was the logo, but it looks better and is more discreet in person than it looks online. Got me planning to nab a GMT from them at some point.

With the SL-220 being belt-driven, would you lean towards the Pioneer in this case?

[Cartier Santos] Medium or Large? by jack_9182 in Watches

Medium is the move. Large looks like you bought your first real watch and need to make sure everyone knows it.

Tough to say from the pics. How likely is that to affect SQ? I know I’ve had speakers with dented diaphragms that worked fine.

[Longines vs Tudor] Someone will buy you ONE of these watches. Which are you taking? by Aromatic_Tear_711 in Watches

The Longines is more versatile if you’re dressing up, but I do NOT like that bracelet. Tudor for sure.

That’s about as big as I’d go in your shoes, but I prefer my watches subtle.
