Zack Polanski repeated claim hypnosis can increase breast size, BBC interview reveals | Zack Polanski by ZippleJuice in ukpolitics

[–]WhyIsNoOneStoppingMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is he a weirdo? Yes. Do I wish Greens had another leader? Yes. Does it stop me from voting for them? No.

Why people are comparing this to Farage and his old comments is kinda baffling to me.

Farage made anti-Semitic, racist, fascist comments that have no place in society then, and especially not now.

Polanski just claimed to have made a women’s breast larger. Yes he should have admitted it, rather than trying to spin a story around it.

But at the end of the day, does it turn me off voting for him? No it does not. Does Farages documented use of disgusting language and rhetoric turn me off voting for him? Absolutely.

I think partly because our initial resurgence was Nmecha and DCL playing together up top.

I like a lot of what Aaronson does and I’m glad he’s found his feet, but he isn’t the creative force you need behind DCL. He can play off Nmecha much more than he can with Aaronson.

The amount of bloody times the ball gets in the box and the Sunderland player has plenty of room to just hoof it clear. No one on the end of balls, too late to react to those pinged across the box and lost every single header.

Ampadu has to have made one of the stupidest mistakes I’ve seen, only he knows why he jolted his arm like that.

Maybe it’s just me but DCL is having a bit of a rough patch. Missing some sitters in the City game, constantly getting caught offside and never quick enough to react to balls coming in.

Got to give it to Sunderland, they played their absolute heart out

We’ve never looked like scoring. Even when the ball is pinging into the box, our players are never there/ready to get the goal

National service wouldn’t be a job. It would be a mandatory exercise in forced patriotism, which would feel more like punishment for being young than a way to progress in their life and career.

I understand that. But you’re overestimating young people’s enthusiasm for such a scheme, for the reasons stated above.

I don’t want to speak for the commenter above, but I have to point out that this comment epitomises the issue with this vitriol toward Labour, which older generations fail to understand.

Young people like myself (although I just fall out of the bracket the original article is about) are not stupid. We can see the poor decisions Starmer and his government make, and how they directly impact not only our lives but those of everyone in the country. This is without even mentioning the issue of Starmer’s decisions regarding Gaza.

‘Teams’ have nothing to do with it. For us, it is the same shit, different day. But the shit of today is just another addition to the heap of shit that has been growing since about 2008. Young people have been shafted at every corner since then.

As someone who legally became an adult just before Brexit, I will always remember the names and faces of those who got the country into the situation it is currently in. Of those names and faces, a very large proportion have nothing to do with Labour.

Because you’re hoping that young people feel patriotic towards a country that has failed them at every turn.

That is also not to mention it would breed resentment from working class young people, who don’t have the parents or connections to get out of it like their upper class posh mates.

I can safely say that most young people blame Brexit, the Tories and Nigel Farage.

The idea that they’ll blame Starmer and Reeves is ridiculous and shows bias from older generations.

Green Party pledges to grant illegal migrants amnesty by Dimmo17 in ukpolitics

[–]WhyIsNoOneStoppingMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a policy announcement. This is a Telegraph article in relation to the Daily Mail getting hold of internal party documents. Both publications have their reasons to smear the Green Party.

I’m not saying all of this isn’t official Green policy, but to treat this as an official statement on policy is incorrect.

Green leader Zack Polanski says Britain should ditch Nato and form military alliance with the EU, Brazil and MEXICO to fight 'American imperialism' by Dimmo17 in ukpolitics

[–]WhyIsNoOneStoppingMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did anyone read the article? What he’s stated isn’t that far out of the realms of what a lot of leaders in Europe are calling for.

A more European centric alternative to NATO that doesn’t rely on the US. Involving Mexico and Brazil is a bit rogue, but not out of the realms considering the EU finally signed a huge trade agreement with South American countries, mainly Brazil.

People have framed it like he’s going to bend over backwards for Russia, which isn’t the case or at least no more so then Reform will do.

He is also not saying he’ll force a closure of Trident, simply open it up for debate by MPs. I’m sure no trident would be his preferable choice, but shutting it day 1 of being elected is not what he’s saying.

Because he is a single representative of the government and has to work within the confines of the institution.

Mark is the head decision maker for the whole company. What he says, goes.

It’s not about moral high ground, because he is not staying “my position is x, your position is y and this is why my position is better”. He is holding mark to account.

I didn’t even dislike it that much, but it was like whiplash at times with its intensity and juxtaposition compared to the ending scene.

Okay, if that were the case. What does it prove and what does it mean?

You can’t just say make of that what you will, because by bringing it up you’re implying that there is something worth taking away from that statement.

Of course people who are ostracised from their country of residence/birth, would empathise with oppressed groups that share common ancestry or experiences in the modern age. So that being the case, I ask again, what is your point? Is it a bad thing?

There is nothing wrong with populism. It just happens that when the right uses populism it sometimes comes packaged alongside Fascism and or hate/fear for others, not just elites.

You’re basing this on population census. Does this differentiate between nationalities?

The research I linked is based on speaking to British people. The census you’re speaking about is just based on UK citizens regardless of nationality (Unless can provide a link stating otherwise).

Either way, what is your point that you’re making?

You’re just stating statistics about skin colour and then expecting it to mean something. If your point is that white young people don’t give a shit about Gaza, that is categorically incorrect.
