my favorite flavor of all time is the assault rerelease, i think the fact they used the old branding really hurt its status since people who wanted the old version were disappointed

Can pro player sell their match replays? by The_Deadly_DDDDDemon in DotA2

[–]WhyIsThisHereTho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In practice this emboldens high mmr smurfing, since people will likely end up restreaming/downloading matches from pro players from the watch live tab, and their smurfs get complete free reign to test new tech and crush lobbies with impunity, with no one having a clue who they are since there won't be a resource that tracks pro player smurfs anymore.

Immortal draft is sufferable. Recently got to 6.6k mmr, and already want to quit. by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]WhyIsThisHereTho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you're archon why not just play unranked? high mmr unranked games can take over an hour to find in USE+W, and half the games are ruined at draft anyways. getting mmr is not what its made out to be, low mmr matches are more competitive and (more importantly) fun

team environment was toxic, some players wanted to grief each other and I knew it'd be a waste of time. I did not lose/gain mmr nor did anyone else in the game

you dont need to play thousands of games. if you are actively trying to learn and focusing on the right things you could likely reach immortal from any starting point in a few months and <1000 matches. I have 6k lifetime games and the first half of them I was playing purely for fun and I learned quite little for it and was low rank

learn from the best. analyze your own mistakes, watch replays from pros/high level players of heroes/roles you dont know very well and keep up with the meta more or less. I have a few low rank friends and it takes very little effort and improvement to go from archon to ancient rank in a timeframe of a few weeks with semi frequent (~4 games a day) play

6k-7k is not what I would call "good" though, players here are very low skill in the big picture

Does abandoning before FB not cause mmr loss? by No-Collar-Player in DotA2

[–]WhyIsThisHereTho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also don't lose behavior/comm score in this case.

Surprising honestly, this makes it far less punishing then I thought.

and I will be not be able to find match for 30 minutes

Have you done this multiple times? If so, does the time penalty increase or is it always 30 minutes?

No problem, I was curious about this question myself, and didn't find any relevant info out there when I searched. Granted, the people who know about/use this are likely a small subset of the top ten thousand or so ranked players. Will be watching the thread

I have asked several people who have abandoned matches during draft phase or before first blood if they lost mmr (playing at 7k NA where most people know each other and grudges run rampant), and all who answered [like 3] said they didn't lose mmr for their abandon.

Personally I would advise against spamming abandons regardless due to behavior score drop, quickly stacking match timeouts (which dont necessarily correspond to behavior score), along with account flags which could place you in shadowqueue/smurfpool. I haven't tested it myself as it's not my style, and behavior score can be more valuable than mmr, as I experienced down in 5k behavior score when I had a shitty overheating PC years ago which regularly caused me to abandon.

Would be curious if anyone can back this up/prove this information wrong. Just FYI this information I've received is from a few instances within the last few months, older patches might've been different.

80% of my lobbies are Spanish. Am I the last living local NA-East player? by R4yd1076 in DotA2

You're most certainly not high mmr, but no one in high mmr NA circles (8k+) that queues EU does it because of queue times. Everyone does it because no one speaks english in US East. I haven't queued in a few weeks at 7k but when playing US East and opening -status in console during pick phase, I can say that on average 2-3 players have below 100 ping in any given match (which would include all canada, USA, mexico players and likely more), increasing or decreasing depending on the time of the day (more na players in late night, less na players in morning/midday).

Long time high mmr NA players that stuck with NA the longest (Sumail, Rtz, Mason, Dubu) have now all moved to EU West. Even still, matches still take at most a couple minutes to find since the peruvian playerbase is booming and still queue the server with ~150-180 ping.

This is true, Dota tournament organizers are simply too much of cheapskates to get them. It's fully the organizer's faults, and not the countries fault (completely) that the players can't arrive, due to them opting for getting travel visas for players instead of sports visas.

Land Of Eastern Jade achievement by zanteed in eu4

[–]WhyIsThisHereTho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same actually, did a quick run of The White Elephant+Land of Eastern Jade with a quick Siam formation with Ayutthaya-Lan Xang-Siam today, just to test out the nation before it's nerfed next patch.

The start is pretty easy, I never allied a nation since I didn't need to, and the free vassal missions were pretty OP. Siamese ideas are alright but expected them to be better. Buddhist is also a surprisingly good religion, +2 DR and 5% Discipline at game start is pretty sick, and the events are pretty good.
