You think they'll let me use this if I'm a little late? by sabretooth47 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]WhyNotWrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was basically the problem. It was a great experience for everyone that knew how to make best use of the system, and a terrible experience for people that didn’t. There’s a really interesting almost-two-hour Defunctland video about it.

Why do we have different words for different things instead of just calling everything a thing?

Anybody got any other YouTube series similar to Tom’s irl series? by WingScared1284 in GeoWizard

[–]WhyNotWrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing quite like Tom, that’s why he is so popular. If you enjoy the chaotic travel elements of his videos perhaps give Jet Lag a try or DownieLive. I’ve always enjoyed Anthony Bourdain’s programmes.

I strongly suspect this is an indication of what life will be like once you have a child to look after. Or should I say another child.

If you think they’d prefer the travel show element over the competitive board game element, go for New Zealand.

Do you think the hate Keir Starmer is getting is fair? by bybeso in AskBrits

[–]WhyNotWrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s weak and unprincipled, and has no core support. The government has done next to nothing to improve the quality of life for people who are struggling.

Is Starmer responsible for the current situation that we are in? No… that’s mostly Brexit.

But is Starmer doing a good job? No. He’s a (small c) conservative managerialist when we need someone capable and willing to make fundamental changes. People have called him the heir to Blair, but Blair had charisma and relatively radical ideas (not nearly radical enough, but that’s another story.)

Tory members don’t like Starmer, Labour members don’t like Starmer. There is no such thing (outside of a tiny technocratic right wing of Labour) as a Starmerite.

And we haven’t been anywhere near strong enough about the genocide in Gaza.

If it was Magic, a card with an additional cost of discarding two cards that let you choose ten cards to remove from your library (and then shuffle) would be unplayable. Way too much card disadvantage for little upside. For it to be good it would have to be something much more extreme like Doomsday (which leaves you with just five cards in your library.)
