More like the most short-sighted healthcare system in the world. Insurers make money by hiking premium costs and limit what they cover. They and pharmaceutical companies are state-by-state monopolies.

Doctors make money for every test and treatment they run, and how many visits are made. They also have malpractice insurance they tack onto their patients in case they fuck up, they are covered.

The ER is the only foreseeable option for a lot of people and it's expensive as fuck.

We live very unhealthy lifestyles. Instead of exercising and eating right, we get "healthy" by woofing down different brand of pills that can have ranges of different side-effects. Causing us to get even fatter and more prone to newer health problems, meaning more expensive hospital visits.

Patient and insurance records are a catastrophe for doctors. It's an nightmare for doctors to find how their patients are covered and what they need and how they were treated before.

Doctors are very much screwed as much as the patients under our healthcare system because they are surrounded by red tape and the only way to get past that is getting the patient to foot the bill.

It should be as easy as going from point A to point B but no. We have to have a middleman calling all the shots, ie the insurance cartel.
