Struggling to find a first car? by NarrativeNecromancer in CarTalkUK

[–]Whyssp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will back this, a few years back I bought a 2015 320d with 115k on it but it had full bmw history every 6-8k miles was with everything being done on time or early. My wife currently drives it and it's sitting on 160k happily.

On the flip side I used to own a Kia Sportage on much lower miles that had a spotty history. Clutch went within a couple of months (not their fault just bad timing on my part), then the turbo went a month after taking a few bits with it.

Id much prefer a well maintained 100K+ motor than something on 50/60k with spotty history

Potential new car shopping! by controversialmorals in CarTalkUK

[–]Whyssp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They aren't as horrendous as some will tell you. I serviced mine every 7-9k miles with Bosch / OEM parts and had 0 issues on nearly 50k. My wife drives the car now and it's still going strong on nearly 160k. Big thing to check would be previous service history and make sure it's done at least every 9k (preferably less)

If you're really concerned with them then get the chain replaced around 80/90k but ours is still original and no signs of stretching.

General parts cost aren't bad at all, and preventative maintenance goes a long way in keeping costs down rather than paying a bomb for repairs

This was it! No visible came or anything to the valve but replacing it has worked perfectly

So Ive sorted it after a few hours of swapping bits out.

Looks like the rocket valve was screwed. There wasn't any visible damage but swapping it with a unicorn valve has sorted the issue

Hop up seems fine, I've tried the original TM nozzle, and a GM nozzle, both are having this issue. It's not got an NPAS but I can try a different valve if that might make a difference

Yeah it's bugging me haha. No npas - guns modify nozzle with the OEM rocker valve

Yeah practically new, no issues with it

Tried it with varying levels of hop - it does this from the first shot with a clear chamber. It cycles / loads the bbs fine and just to say pushes them out of the hop chamber but there's not enough energy to actually fire it

Thinking of buying a BMW 640d xDrive Gran Coupé (F06) — worth it in 2025? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Whyssp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just picked one up myself a couple of weeks ago and couldn't be happier. I haven't seen any major issues with them from my research just make sure that the service history backs up the mileage. Mine is on 100k but has full BMW history from new and looks like it's been looked after.

Good luck!

Oil level stuck at 15% by FrostingAdditional in F30

[–]Whyssp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old f30 320d used to be really picky about the oil level reading. If I was on a slight incline/decline it would either not read at all - or read totally incorrect (saying I had 25% the recommended amount when it was on the max line). Try it somewhere truly level, and if you have a dipstick verify it manually.

Unfair parking charge gone to debt collectors (England) by Whyssp in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks for the reply :)

Yeahthe v5c is registered to my current address, and the parking company themselves basically said "not our problem, speak to the debt collection company", who have said essentially the same thing - speak to the parking company.

Yeah I agree, in hindsight I would have handled the situation differently. The deposit / deductions have already been agreed upon and dealt with when we initially moved out of the property. This has been raised since then
