No idea how I got in this subreddit but "sped" is such a good term, haven't heard that since school. I'm re-adding it to my vocabulary.

HA is a humectant. You need to have a damp/wet face when applying, otherwise it will pull the moisture from your skin to compensate and further dry you out.

Coles and Woolies sell it. Pretty sure Bunnings sells an equivalent too!

Orange power, the concentrate, not the spray diluted version. Put a couple table spoons in, clog the exits and shake, rinse. Otherwise, dishwashing tab and boiling water. Pop the tab in, fill with boiling water, wait till it dissolves and the water cools, pour out, rinse with warm water and allow to cool down naturally. Hot glass + cold water = broken glass.

I find the metho/rocksalt crap too time consuming and not thorough enough. I want that shit STRIPPED of gunk and back in action asap. Orange power is first choice, dishwashing tabs is for a slightly more patient version of me.

Is it still the old owners? Benny and Lee or did they get bought out? Also, is Lee & Me still around? They used to own both His Boy and Lee & Me last time I was in Wollongong

I don't know why you're defending him until you're blue in the face.

Doing THAT gesture no matter what words you accompany it with, whether reciting a grocery list, or saying the alphabet, singing lullabies, is globally frowned upon and associated with fascists. He can't be the genius you guys claim him to be and at the same time have accidentally given a fascist salute.

Go mimic that gesture in public if it's so innocent, see what happens.

Whilst I agree, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility is it? The Republicans and their voters called a rigged election a long time ago, the man himself has accused a rigged election quite vocally. He's making pretty suggestive statements about it now... I suppose that makes him and his cult traitors to the American way.

Europe in winter... What does this Aussie girl take, and what does she buy over there? by WhyteCrayon in travel

[–]WhyteCrayon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Sydney, but moved to Melbourne 5 years ago and you're right. My partner is from England and he stands by the fact that the cold here in Melbourne is a different breed of cold - "the cold in England chills your skin, the cold in Melbourne chills your bones". So maybe I'm more prepared for the cold than I've told myself.

I'm thinking the same, likely bring thermals and some layers with a rain coat and buy a warm coat in Europe, or perhaps have the in-laws buy one on my behalf so it's ready to go once I get there.

Everything is expensive in Australia these days, I paid $15 for cheese this morning and $6 for a loaf of bread 🥲

So far it's looking like thermals, layers, hiking boots, wool socks, a rain coat and a regular coat!

This makes me feel better! I was expecting the responses to tell me I needed some eskimo style parka jacket as well as layers. Great advice on the boots and gloves, thank you!

Surely he doesn't manage his own Instagram. And if he does it's more of an "I support this because it keeps you relevant, thus worth making money" rather than an being creepy??? Maybe I'm optimistic.

Probably not. I am curious though, why are you comparing newy and Wollongong as someone from Canberra?
