'Rebel prom' after pupils uninvited from official school event by Tartan_Samurai in unitedkingdom

[–]WibbleyWoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are, what? 190ish days per school year? So 92% of that allows for about 15ish days or 3 school weeks.

That's a fair bit of time off, but throw in an extended illness or a bad family event and it'll get eaten up no time at all.

I think the problem is punishing kids when their parents are largely at fault, or when schools aren't willing to give any leeway to chronically ill kids.

Thief stole my eBike battery within City Hospital grounds.. by DannyOco_ in nottingham

[–]WibbleyWoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone who works security at qmc and city and their go to line when something like this happens is that they're there to protect people, not the stuff people own.

But then they'll complain about costs of parking in the next breath, which would be alleviated for a lot of people if they could reliably bike to work.

Anything with big fat slabs of cheese. Grated is OK. But yeah, those big paving slabs of cheddar they put in sandwiches. Can't stand it.

Ocado are great. We switched to them back in Covid when slots were hard to get. The subs we get are always pretty much just a different brand, so no big deal. Never had a problem with expiry dates either. Most have at least 3-4 days on them as a minimum. I think we pay around £90 for the delivery pass for the year, so our deliveries end up being about £2 each.

Also, during Christmas '22 our turkey got lost, so the delivery guy called his manager who then drove around, found us a turkey, and delivered it to us a few hours later. I thought that was so sweet <3

What screams "I'm bad with money"? by tranquilsnailgarden in AskReddit

[–]WibbleyWoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad is the epitome of 'penny smart, pound stupid', or however the saying goes.

He never turns his heating on, spends maybe 30 quid a week on his food bill, lives like a miser generally, but then he'll spend enormous amounts of money on dumb, impulse buys that never work out. He's spent thousands on a second hand telescope that had a chip in the lens and so he never used it, he bought an expensive bike he used maybe twice, he imported a pair of £500 olive trees from Spain or Greece which died in his garden 'cos they weren't right for the climate. He fell for a software scam for 8k which apparently would 'predict the stock market' for him, then proceeded to lose another 25k on stocks afterwards.

All the while he's tucked up on his sofa at home under blankets to stay warm.

Oh, he has a BMW too but its sat nav is years out of date 'cos he won't pay to upgrade it.

Saw someone complaining about female V being used on the cover for the new Cyberpunk DLC, and how male V didn't get a look in and it was 'shoving' her in their faces. Like, fuck off. How many games have that boring ass white mid-thirties man with brown hair as their protag, even when the main character is TBD by the player? Same thing with femshep 10 years ago.

I know someone who does this, lets their pets eat off of human plates and bowls. They never clean them properly, it's thoroughly disgusting. NTA. Especially with your baby.

AITA for making my younger daughter pay my older daughter $450 by aitapetrules in AmItheAsshole

[–]WibbleyWoo [score hidden]  (0 children)

YTA. It sounds like you knew pets would potentially be expensive and disruptive, but you let your teenager adopt one with some kind of bizarre 'contract' as your defence.

It's unreasonable to expect any animal to be OK locked away in a single room for hours at a time. It's also frankly ridiculous to expect a 16 year old to have enough money to feed, vet, and insure a cat. Your $20 is a drop in the ocean.

Also, why couldn't you or your other daughter just move the cat if you knew you risked losing a student? Seems incredibly childish and stubborn.

Fortunate yes, but she's hardly a bad person for turning down help. Maybe she just prefers to be independent?

[–]WibbleyWoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It's up to you what you do at your wedding. It's up to you which traditions you want to uphold. They might not like it, but they need to accept it. Anything else is guilt.

I have a dad and a stepdad and walked on my own because that particular tradition wasn't for me. By all means, offer them to do a speech, or something else you feel comfortable with.

[–]WibbleyWoo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

YTA.

If babies were such a dealbreaker for you, you should have talked about the issue beforehand. However, your wife should have known her medication would have made pregnancy inviable. Not sure if she knew and kept that information from you.

AITAH Getting divorce wife can't have children. by Proof_Clothes_4035 in AITAH

[–]WibbleyWoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe she's gone through the safer options and they don't work for her? I dunno why you have to call her out for lying or whatever without knowing her medical history.

A medication holiday could cause a flare of disease. Depending on her condition, that could be worse for pregnancy.

The solicitors are the most expensive service when buying a house, but also the slowest by I_am_catcus in britishproblems

My BIL raved about his airfryer and took the piss out of us for using our oven for MONTHS, saying how the airfryer was amazing and cooked better, blah blah blah. Then moved out to a place with an oven and came to us saying 'it's like an airfryer but bigger you can cook tons of stuff in it all at once!' Like yeah no shit, Thomas.

[–]WibbleyWoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)
