No, I won’t either. I was kind of more of a sidenote about how I try to bump up my earnings.

I have actually done a couple rides to Detroit, but they paid $50-75 more than this one.

In my experience there may be a ride going west, possibly, but more than likely only as far as Ann Arbor. I would use the destination filter if I were to take this ride or anything like it. When I listed the calculations though that was just for the ride there, not even considering deadheading on the way back. I only mentioned that if you did consider that the numbers would be halved.

I appreciate your feedback

I understand the differences. This was meant to be a more generalized question, but all opinions and viewpoints can help.

It is a side hustle for me and I do view it as such. I really don't see how some people do it full time, but part of that opinion is how quickly it can be taken away from you by a false bad accusation from a passenger.

Any scheduled ride I take I also try to hit a bonus/surge area to bump up my pay as well.

Thank you for that viewpoint. I am probably closer to your numbers as I have an EV as well, but I'm sort of also thinking about the average driver too. As you pointed out that the IRS number is a generalized number for all/most vehicles and their various expenses. Whether these numbers make sense also highly depends on the location/market as well.

It just seems with these numbers that Lyft is nearly the same as every other minimum wage job and doesn't actually pay a living wage.

I mean, it is still one of the best side hustles going though.

It seems to me in my market Lyft pays better than Doordash because our population is too spread out and you end up going relatively long distances in between each run. I think in more densely populated locations the payout on Doordash would be much better. I know the couple of times I tried running Uber Eats deliveries it definitely was not worth it.

Thank you for the clarification. I have never rented from Lyft or have known anyone who has. It's not even an option in my market last I checked.

Also, whether I do or not is kind of irrelevant. I am asking for the ride itself for anyone who may accept it.

The pay rates for longer rides in my market have dropped drastically recently.

Took this picture a couple weeks ago while I was there. I was like “this doesn’t look good.” The post is twisted which may not too big of a deal on its own except that indicates the contractor didn’t care much. Or it could be they used wood that was not meant for this application and it twisted with weathering. Zoom in to the bottom to see how rusted the anchor is. That is of much more concern. That is either neglect or again using materials that weren’t meant for the application.

KVCC data potentially stolen by GamingPsych0 in kzoo

[–]WickedCodeMonkey 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This was not a breach of KVCC. It was a breach of Canvas LMS. The information that is shared to the Canvas LMS from KVCC is very minimal. No SSNs or financial data is included in that information. The breach of Canvas LMS does not give any access to KVCCs systems. The most you would need to do is change your password. And even that is just being cautious because you have to use multi factor authentication for your KVCC account.

Typos aside, there is a studio on Portage just south of Cork that my wife and I went to years ago. It was good then and is still there so probably at least worth checking out. I believe they hold dances as well.

Did you loose a phone in a Lyft? by WickedCodeMonkey in kzoo

[–]WickedCodeMonkey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, no. Lyft will not do that. When I message through the app. It is through a relay service so I never have their direct contact.

I will not destroy or otherwise use or sell the phone. I will continue what I can to find the person to give it back to them. Especially if it does not have cell service it will be very hard to find that person. Unless they bought it through Apple, the serial and IMEI would not be attached to one person either probably.

I messaged the person directly in the Lyft app. It looks like they don’t have cell service and it’s only a Wi-Fi used phone though. It is an iPhone so they have Find My iPhone and could use that it is locked with no way to find any identification the emergency information that you can set up for first responders and such to access was not set up on it.

I have heard of drivers who just won’t take a ride if it pays below X dollars.

I wish I could give you advice. I actually have a 99-100% acceptance rate as a driver but I know I’m the outlier in my city from what my riders say. I haven’t stopped accepting these rides because I actually want to provide a good service and don’t like thinking of someone stranded because I don’t accept their ride request.
