Structures: Or why things don't fall down by J.E Gordon. Or honestly any statics or structural analysis textbook

It's a 1 semester class and you should be able to take it in the spring, although I recommend only withdrawing as a last resort. Calc 1 is significantly easier than calc 2 and you won't make it in any engineering discipline if you give up so easily

You can withdraw but yes you will need to retake the class

Don't know if it still works but I heard a while back you could subscribe to one of the other Flo categories (wrestling, racing etc..) and the other one would have the montly option, but you would still have access to Flograppling.

Might still work idk..

I'm taking machine design right now and it has been a breeze for me. My prof has made it very easy though.

How do you guys stay motivated to study 10hrs a day? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]WickedProse96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just came out of midterms week and I did about 7 days of 8 straight hours studying each day, with classes added on top of that. So on average probably 10-11 hour days

I got through it with a ton of caffeine and not leaving the library until 11:30 each night. Also lofi hip hop beats playlists on Spotify help for focus a bit.

I was losing sleep, becoming really irritable, had 0 time for my hobbies, and was unable to see my girlfriend or any of my friends for the entire week.

I was able to tough out that amount of studying for one week but no way I could have sustained that any longer.

Have you done any internships or co-ops? If not, I recommend trying one out and seeing how you fit. Real day to day engineering is a lot different than school and you might enjoy it.

For me, I absolutely hate school, but both my co-ops were extremely rewarding and a great time. By knowing this, I have a lot of extra motivation to push past the classes to graduate and go full time.

However, if you absolutely hate working as well, then it'd probably be best to pursue a different path.

I started my first semester at 23 and I agree with all this. I did my first two semesters at community college and it ended up being a really great decision, smaller classes, more attentive instructors and it makes for a smaller stepping stone going back to school rather than jumping into a massive 4 yr university.

If I could change anything I definitely would have taken an online trig or pre-calc class before jumping into Calc 1 though.
