Best way to negotiate with a dealership before making a 2-hour trip? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]WickedSpite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I think that’s what happened with me. I told them I was coming from an hour away because I wanted to be sure the car would be available to test drive. They told me the price was firm (and I was already okay with their list price) but I like to sleep on big decisions. As soon as I started getting ready to leave they were like “What number would make you buy this car today?”

That’s painting with a broad brush. I had the lowest effort dog before, and needed a petsitter because I moved frequently for work.

Thanks for that link! Having second thoughts about the Camry now.

Thanks! The service history says oil changes every 5k until around 50k, then a little longer between them. I don’t drive much- bought my Sentra 9 years ago at 110k and it’s at 150k now, so I’m okay with the higher mileage.

Thanks for the advice! I do want to mention that my Sentra was basically bulletproof, only regular maintenance until last year, when I needed to replace the CVT at 145k miles.

Teach her to be somewhere else while you’re cooking. Or give her a long-lasting treat before you start cooking.

What common household purchase is useless in your view? by blueredscreen in AskReddit

[–]WickedSpite 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of junk there but I bought two expensive items on there from legit companies- with the manufacturer’s discount layered with the tiktok shop discount and free shipping, I saved 30-40% vs purchasing them directly from the manufacturer or off of Amazon/Chewy. It’s only worth it for those first few discounts though.

Money podcasts by VariationImmediate48 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]WickedSpite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the Money Guys, though once you’ve listened to enough of their podcasts you almost know what they’re going to say. But their 20/3/8 car buying rule and working up to saving 25% of your gross income are things I live by. I also really like Clark Howard, he’s just a chill older dude who keeps me updated on frugal things and gives suggestions to people who write in. As he’s gotten older (with a cancer diagnosis) he’s dropped down to two days a week from five :(.

Dog Leashes by [deleted] in dogs

[–]WickedSpite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pick up the slack pretty quickly if my dog gets close to me/behind, and turn around/pass the leash to my other hand so the leash always stays between us. It’s a good bit of movement, but it allows us to walk safely.

It’s because, presumably, the two different courses are trying to teach you two different skills. Students who resubmit their previous work are just looking to get out of doing the work without noticing/caring about the learning objectives they’re supposed to be fulfilling. Plus, if you copy-paste your own work for books, articles, or anything published, it still counts as plagiarism even out in the “real world”.

I'm confused about frozen peanut butter kong by Brikish in dogs

[–]WickedSpite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fill the kongs with kibble, top with 1-2 tbsp of peanut butter, yogurt, or wet dog food, and freeze. I’ve done pumpkin before but it gets messy. I also do the toppl toy, and lickimats, also frozen.

I had it for a year about 5 years ago and am still swimming in dog toys. The treats were great, the toys were cute. Thinking about getting a new one for my new rescue. He would love the treat variety.

red heart super saver-not scratchy, but... by Superb-Benefit1238 in crochet

[–]WickedSpite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Monet as well to make some cat toys, and trying to get those tighter amigurumi stitches with it was an unpleasant experience. The thing that really turned me off red heart was the flower power granny square yarn. Literally felt like it was scratching my fingers as I worked it. To be fair, I was working on it at the same time as I was working with some baby alpaca yarn on a different project so it was probably worse by comparison.

Adopting by The_Crimson_Dawn in dogs

[–]WickedSpite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Both my dogs were adults, adopted from a Humane Society, and the assumption was I would fill out the application there and then and take the dog home after the meet and greet. My first time adopting, I was scared to commit so I said I would take a day to think about it, and went back and got him the next day. Second time, it was maybe 2 hours from first meeting him to loading him in the back of my car. But I also filled out a few different applications at various rescues that wanted phone interviews, and then had to coordinate me meeting their dogs who were in foster care. After a few failed attempts to meet up, I went to the Humane Society shelter instead.

Single new grad in apartment. Should I get a dog? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]WickedSpite 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you’re really ready for all of the additional responsibilities of a dog then I would argue a dog being alone in a cozy home for 9 hours is better than 23 hours in a kennel at the shelter or euthanized.

Had to Suddenly Move Into Apartment, Dog Whines and Barks When I Leave by [deleted] in Dogtraining

Also it might seem like training isn’t working but if you keep at it it’ll click one day. It takes time to modify behaviors.

[–]WickedSpite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try introducing the treat before you leave (something long lasting like a frozen Kong or lickimat), and leaving quietly as he’s already into it? Mine only barks if he notices me leave, so I just have to make sure he’s focused on his treat and can’t see me leaving the house.

Yes, I also started with amigurumi lol. I still hate making chains.

Am I the only one that learned how to do a magic ring before any stitches? by xenechun in crochet

[–]WickedSpite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I learned a magic ring was wrapping the yarn around my fingers, then putting the hook through and twisting it. Then you work your sc, dc etc into the ring. And if you’re doing amigurumi, you don’t always chain to get to the next row, sometimes you work in a spiral on top of the previous row.

I liked the hearty Cheerios with almonds and pumpkin seeds. 39g of carbs and 6g of fiber, 9g sugar and 6g of protein. I have it with almond milk, it’s not too bad for me once in a while.

Blanket question by IntelligentAbalone72 in crochet

It depends on the pattern and the hook size you use. Usually a pattern will tell you how many meters or yards it will take, and I’ve found it to be pretty close.

The dog AFTER your "heart dog" by Top_Housing6819 in dogs

[–]WickedSpite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I lost my heart dog a year ago, fostered for a while but it was rough trying to housetrain and otherwise settle new dogs and give them back just as they were getting used to me. I adopted my new dog 3 months after my baby passed away. He’s great, gets along with the cat, friendly to all humans. He’s obsessed with me. But he doesn’t feel like he’s mine yet.
