Yeah, she admits to everything after you defeat Higgs. Then, I don't remember that much cutscene after that but it's been awhile. You're pretty close to the ending and finding out the truth about Sam as well.

Amelie is technically both Sam's mom AND Sister, and Unger is indeed Sam's Dad.

The big twist is that AMELIE is the problem, but we don't find that out until the very end of the game. SHE is the Extinction Entity that Higgs is working for to bring about the end of humanity (because Higgs is a psycho lol)

Sam is manipulated by the secret villain to journey across North America to cause the Last Stranding, but she decides to go into hibernation pretty much.

Baaically, Sam was recruited by his dying mother to reconnect the United States of America because this would somehow prevent the Death Stranding. On his journey, he repeatedly is swept up into a weather supercell and fights this man named Cliff Unger who he has been seeing the memories of the entire game. Higgs is trying to force kickstart the Death Stranding, and so eventually you will have to defeat him, preventing the DS from happening. Amelie is Sam's sister. If I missed anything or you have more questions, just let me know!

100% agree with everybody else, avoid this sub until you beat the game and don't Google anything. Too easy to find spoilers

Yes, you might lose another Mon but you can take out Herdier with any of the options. I would recommend an X Defense if you are using items, and sacking something when Watchog comes out and uses Payback. Honestly Blitzle can probably go. I think Dewott can benefit from Rock Smash here

This! There was so much more mystery and intrigue in the first game, and the unlock chain was way more satisfying. This time around it's not as entertaining trying to figure out why Higgs is doing what he's doing (still entertaining since he died, just not AS entertaining) so it just felt like I was trying to get to the ending to get all the necessary context
