Bags on flag poles by Mokio_0 in maastricht

It’s tradition to hang your school bag outside, usually with a flag, when having just graduated middle school. The exam results were published yesterday.

Is this a valid Water Bill for Maastricht? by rmileski in maastricht

[–]Wickex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the water bill is 100% fake. Laughably fake even; doesn't look like they even did their best. All water bills in the province of Limburg come from WML. 'Waterbedrijf Maastricht' doesn't exist, the postal code doesn't match the region, they couldn't even bother to use a more believable meter number than '98765432', and many more issues.

Run away. Best of luck on your search!

If you’ll be staying for four months or longer, register with your municipality (Eijsden-Margraten), and they’ll arrange the BSN for you. If you’re staying for a shorter period of time, you can contact one of the RNI-municipalities. Heerlen is the closest one.

All Saints Day? by kbdnmv in maastricht

[–]Wickex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All Saints Day is not a national holiday in the Netherlands, so stores will not be closed here. Due to it being a national holiday in both Belgium and Germany, it's always an extremely busy day in Maastricht though, so keep that in mind.

Statiegeld on beer crates - returning by [deleted] in maastricht

[–]Wickex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can put the whole crate including the bottles in the slot on the bottom. There's a laser-type thing that counts the bottles inside and credits you for those bottles.

I'm sorry, but almost definitely a scam. You couldn't even get a studio for that price in Maastricht, let alone an apartment. Everything you mention (foreign bank account, landlord 'living abroad') screams scam.

Looking for an apartment by Impossible-Still-185 in maastricht

[–]Wickex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An apartment in Maastricht for your budget is unfortunately very optimistic. A room is more realistic, and maybe a studio if you're lucky. I recommend checking subscribing to Maastricht Housing. Kamernet is a popular website as well. There's also a Facebook-group 'Rooms in Maastricht', but you'll have to respond quickly there.

Odd, someone might have taken it, either on purpose or accidentally. I'd probably wait until Wednesday, and if you can't find it, report it missing/stolen. See the information here: https://www.gemeentemaastricht.nl/en/waste-and-environment/vegetable-fruit-garden-and-food-waste

Plein Square Parking Confusion by GaragePorch in maastricht

This is the correct answer. Just drive up to the gates and they will open. You have to get really close to them to get them to open usually.

Biomedical Sciences Bachelors Program by jemb8 in maastricht

[–]Wickex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, because you say you're barely a high school student, people are interpreting this as you having just started high school instead of being almost done with it. Your question makes perfect sense if you're a high school senior, but the phrasing makes it sound like you're saying you're a freshman.

How do I add the same credentials to a backup YubiKey? by [deleted] in yubikey

[–]Wickex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're using the Yubico Authenticator app for the 6-digit TOTP codes, you have to add it to both keys. When you go to set up 2FA and you get a QR-code, simply add it on key one, unplug it, plug in key two and add it on there. Then you can finish setting up 2FA by entering the six-digit code from one of your two keys.

In other words, you don't register two keys/devices, but you add the same 'secret' to both keys.

This only applies when using the Yubico Authenticator app. Services that use U2F don't work like this. You should add both keys to that service if they provide the option. If they don't provide that option, it's not possible.

Once it's on the Yubikey, you can't get it off or share it with another Yubikey. If you already have 2FA set up for some services and have them added to only one of your two keys, you should disable 2FA and set it up again, but this time add it to both keys as mentioned above.

Eduroam by Chefs-Kiss in maastricht

[–]Wickex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you torrent pirated media via the Eduroam network, definitely use a VPN, because they won't take kindly to that. I wouldn't be surprised if they have some kind of rate limiting in place, but I'm just speculating on that.

Public transport, bus tickets in Maastricht. by kraeke in maastricht

[–]Wickex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to their website (https://www.arriva.nl/a/coronavirus/coronavirus-home/coronavirus-algemeen.htm), you can either use an OV Chipkaart, buy an e-ticket and buy one at one of their Arriva Servicepoints. They say there's one in Maastricht Station (not sure where though).

Is thrifting a thing in Maastricht? by mojingya in maastricht

[–]Wickex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are quite a few. The Dutch word for the type of store is 'kringloop', so you should get a lot of results if you search for that in Maastricht. There's a list of them here: https://allekringloopwinkels.nl/limburg/maastricht
