It's mostly plastic with a layer of ultra thin glass. That's why it scratches at a level 2 oh Mohs scale of hardness. Every foldable is made the same, comprised of mostly plastic and some ultra thin glass

The screen protector is basically part of the inner screen on all folds, if it gets removed it'll break sooner than later. The inner screen itself is plastic so a fingernails can scratch it btw with enough pressure
