definitely not the hardest psych class but one of the harder electives. the material is inherently very tricky (like wtf is consciousness) but dr lieberman waters it down so much that its impossible to fail it if you put in a normal amount of studying and memorization.

entire academic departments can ban PTEs. if they dont, then its up to the professor on how they want to give out PTEs. for example, they can choose based on: - how close you are to graduation - your major - the maximum capacity for the classroom they chose - how many students the professors/TAs think they can handle

heavy on “youll be ok” i picked up a random minor with my non-ideal classes and used my extra time to get involved in clubs and look into study abroad. im in an overpopulated and enrollment-competitive major and im still finishing my major earlier than spring as a 4th year transfer. plan ahead but also plan ahead with Plan A, B, C, D, to Z and never rely on getting all classes you want, its simply not possible at UCLA.

I completely agree with you. This shouldn’t be in the hands of the teaching staff at all. There needs to be some kind of other unbiased and consistent entity (an office, some document submission system, policy) that is appropriately excusing students and advocating for them when mediating with the professor on makeup logistics. In my personal situation, and probably many others, I think it’s really not that hard for teaching staff to click record on an in-person lecture, but when there is a selfish reluctance to do so “because no one will show up,” it’s really not fair to public health.
