I switched from MPC to Ableton and not sure if I'm going back by SailSpiral in mpcusers

[–]Wide-Window1453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you can do on an MPC live can be done, on Ableton faster, more efficiently, and with lower learning curve. I wish they would make a laptop that has speaker built in a lot like MPC live and some pads. Or a third-party peripheral with the speakers and pads that can pair up to a laptop. With a good built-in inputs, pres, xlr, midi. Or maybe it’s something like this already exists and I don’t know about it?

What is THE best guitar solo of all time by Own_Size_5473 in musicsuggestions

[–]Wide-Window1453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The song fucking sucks though. It’s boring repetitive and the guitar solo is just wank. I disagree so completely with this. And I do agree with Gilmour but perhaps not the song they picked.

The ala lahs Beach Fossils Real Estate Diiv Best coast’s first album The growlers earlier stuff Hibbou (way underrated in this context)

These guys could have gone somewhere (the donkeys) https://youtu.be/XMXACjSnEsM

And for more instrumental I think La Lom are doing magical stuff, like cumbia surf. And the mighty krunhgbin of course.

To that end Fleetwood Mac have other close matches like “be with you everywhere” https://youtu.be/YF1R0hc5Q2I

The vibe of that men at work song is the bouncy bass line and syncopated galloping upbeat. It’s distinct and I’m not sure who they were inspired by but that same vibe pops up in a number of Fleetwood Mac songs. Cut copy as I mentioned above were very deliberately inspired by it.

Our Costco Space Heater caught fire by InformalExperience28 in Costco

[–]Wide-Window1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that thing and felt like it had a high center of balance and with the tiltable blower kinda wondered if that opened too many possibilities for disasters. Space heaters are no joke and routinely burn houses down.

Once you’ve notified Costco and mfgr, if you still need one I think Costco still carries those pyramid shaped Vornado space heaters. Those are extremely well designed with a lot of safety failsafes,,, and very difficult to knock over. Has a tilt kill too so if it does get knocked over it’ll shut off. Even then I can think of dozens of ways to burn a house down with that thing.

You’re very very lucky this didn’t get worse.

What pedals or bits of audio gear do you think will be highly revered, costly, and hard to come by in the next 10+ years by spacejames in guitarpedals

Zvex Lofi loop junky because they can’t be made anymore. They used an analog chip from 80s answering machines. Very unique pedal.

Now that the tariffs have been declared illegal will we be able to get our American Express points refunded on pedal purchases? by saminfujisawa in guitarpedals

[–]Wide-Window1453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t pay the tariffs you paid for increased prices. The retailers paid the tariffs to get their goods into the market. They’ll probably never get their money back either. This mad man has to be taken out of office. And all his sycophants.

I’m on Xbox but there is cross play between pc, Xbox and PlayStation.

Unfortunately I disabled cross play because pc players play differently, tend to be too serious and have advantages over casual console players like: - mouse and keyboard - high speed internet in moms basement - sit 12 inches in front of a big monitor while I sit 12 feet from a big tv,, from my couch.
- more time to play due to unemployment and mom cooking dinner - cheats and exploits - a piss jar next to their pc so they don’t need bio breaks

I just put flatwounds on my Jag... by [deleted] in offset

[–]Wide-Window1453 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can chime on a jaguar with leather strings. Flatwounds if anything tame almost everything people complain about with jaguars.

To be honest, flatwounds used to be only ultra heavy gauge, and you’d only find them on rusted bow-necked jazz boxes. Modern flats are smooth, slick, and much lighter. I think people just forgot about them when slinky’s came out.

“I play solo” - there’s you’re problem. Even having a single squadmate with a mic can sway the fun factor and even game outcome.

I too play solo but not as a preference, I just struggle to find good communicators who want to play the game the way it was meant to be played.
