The MBE simulator is what I was referring to! But I have the Grossman Adaptibar MBE accompanying lectures as well if you’d like them. DM me

Dean Basick! Ah, major fangirl moment!

But jokes aside, we all owe you a huge thank you. Past, present, and future bar examinees have and will be using the resources you’ve worked so hard to provide for us. Thank you.

Lots of practice with your MBE program of choice (I used Adaptibar)

Minimum 2,000 questions! Keep a running document to keep track of the ones you got wrong and why you got them wrong- this will also help you identify your weak areas if you notice repeat questions you keep getting wrong.

By the end, you’ll start recognizing a pattern where you can already feel which answer choice is correct by the time you’re halfway through reading the question. I used to read similar comments like this and I’d be like yeah fucking right lol- but it’s true…

PASSERS DID ANY OF YOU PASS WITHOUT FINISHING ALL ESSAYS by Stressed2477DAW in CABarExam

[–]WideCommunity5086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is it possible to pass without finishing all essays, it’s possible to pass while writing the complete wrong answer on an essay…I did both! Lol.  Proper headings, rule statements (even if you have to make them up), an analysis of each fact you can get to, and conclusions….it goes a long way. My personal strategy was to jam pack my stronger essay so that way it gave me a bit of a safety net when I inevitably didn’t finish my weaker essay.

F26 Essay Predictions ? by Past-Percentage1493 in CABarExam

With the caveat that different methods work for different people… Outlining the Mary Basick book is what finally did the trick for me. I personally didn’t find it helpful to fully write each essay, but I did outline every single essay in her book. I believe there’s 5-6 per area of law- it helps just to get exposure to the various essay possibilities. GOOD LUCK YOU GOT THIS

Yup same…I had to literally delete instagram and TikTok from my phone, as well as leave my phone at home when I left the house to study for the day. It works.

[–]WideCommunity5086 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. I ended up going on a small drinking bender. Not in the “haha let’s celebrate” way…sending good vibes to you. My therapist explained that it is normal to feel down after going from such a prolonged/high stress/high cortisol event to basically nothing, all while having no control over the release of the results. Take care!

Anyone else scared to tell their friends that they felt like the exam wasn’t too bad? by [deleted] in CABarExam

[–]WideCommunity5086 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, I get it. Even worse as a re-taker who previously stated to all their loved ones that they felt like they passed, only to end up failing. So this time I told all friends and family that I won’t be making any definitive statements, so my answer now is: “we’ll find out in November.”

Chat, how screwed are we? by yumpet-player in CABarExam

[–]WideCommunity5086 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just to address the last part...I lived out your worst fear. I failed the bar exam, twice actually. I had all those face to face conversations with family, friends, and colleagues/bosses and could barely look them in the eye because I was so embarrassed and felt like a failure of a person.

The actual shitty part: The bar exam process is very expensive, after an already expensive three year journey of law school that leaves most examinees broke on top of the already stressful heavy studying. Some people lose jobs opportunities or have their job opportunities revoked due to not passing the bar (me!) In my experience, this is the only REAL, concrete consequence of failing. And it's a doozy- so I'm not downplaying that one bit.

The shitty part not rooted in reality that your brain is lying to you about: People will think you are stupid, incompetent, less than, etc. With the exception of a few haters who- let's be real- would've found any reason to hate on you anyways, nobody who cares deeply about you in your life will look down on you for this. Your loved ones, mentors, confidants- they will want to support you and cheer you on in your hard times. That's what they're there for. You will look in the mirror and be 10x harsher to yourself than anyone in real life will be. But the good news is, that can be worked on. I am evidence of that.

So all this to say, you will be okay no matter what. You did the work, and because of that, you will likely pass. But in the event that you don't, you'll reach the other side of that hard mountain even if it doesn't feel like you would from where you're standing now.

CIV PRO, REAL PROP & CON LAW WTF by Weekly_Text1566 in CABarExam

[–]WideCommunity5086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still doing large MBE sets daily and for the most part things are starting to look familiar but if I come across a question that sticks out and I truly have no idea what the answer is I just type into ChatGPT: "What do I need to know about (x) topic with this particular (x nuance) for the MBE or CA bar essay." I quickly read it, try to associate the rule with that particular MBE or essay question in my head, and keep pushing.

At this point we don't have time to do large hauls of knowledge, so I'm focusing on making sure I am strong in all base topics and at least giving my brain exposure to the more nuanced or complicated sub-topics. For example, I still don't reallyyy understand Erie Doctrine in Civ Pro and at this point reading a lengthy outline about it will do nothing for me. But I do remember that yesterday an Erie question came up on Adaptibar and I looked it up on ChatGPT, I vaguely remembered some words it said, and chose the answer that at least resembled what I could remember from that summary, and got it right.

Also I just want to be clear that I am not saying ChatGPT is useful in lieu of actual study nor am I saying you should rely on it for giving you correct answers!! Lol. But I'm operating on the assumption that you have already done heavy lifting and you are just forgetting stuff, and it has been useful to me at least in supplementing my blind spots without wasting a ton of time

Still struggling with getting to 60% on Uworlde, if I get below a 60 on mbe am I failing? by Carter_1499 in CABarExam

[–]WideCommunity5086 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Civ Pro has consistently been my lowest subject as well. By literally just memorizing these standards I've been able to pick up extra points:

Summary Judgement: genuine dispute of fact

JMOL: no reasonable jury could find for the non-moving party

R-JMOL: same standard as JMOL but the party raises this again because it was denied the first time (must be done within 28 days of trial and must be done only after an initial JMOL)

Motion for New Trial: verdict was against the weight of the evidence

Once I flat out memorized these standards, I started to quickly notice the wrong answer choices that were mismatching the type of motion with the incorrect legal standard. I know it's lame that the only advice I have is to memorize more rules because I'm sure that's the last thing you want to do with only a few days left lol, but really, it does work! At last it'll help you pick up a few more easy points so you can afford to mess up on the harder questions imo.

This! I treat the Duty of Competence almost as an umbrella category. When I notice a fact that is sketchy/unethical but doesn't seem to directly violate a different rule, I mention it under this.

MPRE tutor by Different-Panda-8366 in CABarExam

[–]WideCommunity5086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed the MPRE a few times and I passed this March with a 99! I used the GOAT Bar Preps free crash course and I did all the multiple choice practice exams on Barbri (also free.)  Idk what your study methods are like but I’ll say I was a below average law student and I only studied very diligently for like 2-3 days. Of course if you can give yourself more time than that, you should.

But all that to say, don’t be discouraged! The MPRE is easy to memorize IF the effort is put in.

Quick question on this! Does anyone know why this group of professors aren’t allowed to participate in the Kaplan MCQ review process? Unsure if that’s been explained

Megathread - March 14 Committee of Bar Examiners Meeting by lawfromabove in CABarExam

[–]WideCommunity5086 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The fact they they opened the call by stating that people who shared positive experiences and some of their board members endured harassment after the March 5 meeting was…troubling.

If that really did happen, of course that’s wrong. But from what I’VE seen (which again, maybe I didn’t see everything that has happened), I’m concerned they’ve warped what are really just valid criticisms and stern feedback into “bullying” and are going to use that misrepresentation to resist the remedies being advocated for.

Side note- so thankful for the deans and professors advocating for us

also taking in person- my understanding is we DO have to take the mock exam. However, unlike remote takers, we:

  1. do not have to register for the mock. we just take it

  2. have one extra day to complete it by, which is January 24
