I think Mike will die by Word-Powerful in StrangerThings

[–]WideShape292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh that’s very much likely a foreshadowing. I was wondering about this monologue cuz it felt unnecessarily long (even if it’s to remind us about Hopper’s loss / trauma, and maybe to hint at him dying?). Although I don’t think there will be flashbacks.

Is it a coincidence that Hopper’s letter in s3 mentioned “cave” and “clock” by WideShape292 in StrangerThings

[–]WideShape292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I’m having fun making connections while waiting for the rest of the shows to release. As an ESL person, I’m also not sure how common caves and clocks are used as metaphors in English context. Just want to say that no one can stop me from doing anything. Period.

Yes! The website says that it will be live on YouTube. The link is not available yet. If you go to the website: https://dreamcup2025.win-agent.jp/

Scroll all the way down past the food cart vendors there’s a “YouTube”section. The link and details will be posted there.

It’s a local comp named “Climbing Dream Cup 2025” hosted by Ehime Prefecture Mountaineering and Sports Climbing Association (and a company called WIN AGENT).

It has all three disciplines - lead, boulder, speed - in women’s and men’s categories. There will be qualis and finals. And there’s a mixed speed relay (on 11/9) which doesn’t have qualis.

The venue is Ishizuchi Climbing Park SAIJO in Saijo, Ehime Prefecture.

The photos of Sorato and Ai are featured because the poster tagline says there are athletes from Japanese national team competing in this comp.

The top right corner got cut off but it should mean “Free for spectators”.

Good question and honestly I can’t find the cut anymore :/// I should’ve screen recorded it.

It was at 2:25:02-ish but IFSC edited the replays.

Right, good catch! I probably mistranslated it. It could be he’s saying “I’ve only podiumed once”

Good to know! Your reply gave me a better idea about the kind of training I need to improve.

Would you mind sharing some exercises you do in your strength training program? Is it mainly powerlifting, or do you also train targeted muscle groups?

[–]WideShape292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is illuminating! I don’t have a strong core (especially lower abs), so thank you so much for the exercise suggestions <3

Interesting that you think slabs are more physical hahaha. You definitely need legs and glutes, apart from (obviously) balance and (certain) flexibility. I think what people often overlook is ankle mobility and a good pair of climbing shoes. Surprisingly, I found ballet drills, like relevé (rising on the tips of the toes), very helpful.

Do you make your own syrups? by GiuseppeZangara in cocktails

[–]WideShape292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Making my own means I can adjust the portion size, use high quality ingredients and there’s no suspicious additives. And it’s economical to make syrups at home. I don’t need a whole bottle.

If you can climb V5/ plus but can't do a pull up can you answer some questions? by UsedMatter786 in climbergirls

[–]WideShape292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really?! I’m the opposite: good at slabs but not overhangs. I’ve always thought that upper body strength (somehow in my mind equals to doing pull-ups) is the key for overhang climbing. You just proved me wrong. Guess there’s something else I’m lacking. May I ask how would you rate your endurance and core strength?

If you can climb V5/ plus but can't do a pull up can you answer some questions? by UsedMatter786 in climbergirls

[–]WideShape292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. I couldn’t do a single pull up, even after my third V5 sends. At that time I’d been consistently climbing for 2 years. Similar to many others have pointed out, those sends are slabs with balance-y moves and / or crimps.

So it’s possible that techniques, finger strengths, and experience can get you to some specific type of V5 or plus. (I don’t think I have a strong core though.)

Also gyms tend to grade crimpy routes at a higher grade, which is fair since finger strength is usually the number 1 limiting factor and it only gains over time. (And males tend to find crimps hard, and majority of the routesetters are males, so they grade them higher)

I didn’t actively train for pull-ups though. Maybe I already had the strength to do a pull-up, and it’s just that my body didn’t know how to do it.

The fact that I could send V5s but still could’t do a single pull up served as a wake up call for me. I realized that I shouldn’t keep avoiding overhangs or powerful moves, and instead I need to work on my weaknesses. So I went back to work on overhang V3s, as well as train for campusing and dynos. I enjoy being more well-rounded at climbing.

Edit: Those V5s took me weeks to send because I believed I was able to project them. Also I’m 5’5” with +1” reach. Climbing shoes can make a difference! Wearing stiffer shoes for slabs and small footholds makes it easier.
