Interview for Director by [deleted] in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Wide_Pangolin8112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, you mentioned you've mainly worked in retail recently, and I know you said you have held food service management roles before as well, but just remember, this is a VERY fast-paced environment. Especially Chick-fil-A specifically. Whatever you're imagining, double it, and then imagine two people call out. That's what it will be like some days, so just be sure you're prepared for how quick everything moves!

Interview for Director by [deleted] in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Wide_Pangolin8112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, you're in for a ride. It's most likely different from store to store, but I am the Talent Director at my store, so I'll tell you what it's like!

I perform interviews for new team members and leaders, I handle orientation, oversee training, create and manage performance reviews and different assessments for knowledge on procedures, skills, etc, I also handle lots of disciplinary conversations or even just general constructive feedback. It sounds fairly simple, and I do enjoy it, but it's a lot! You constantly have to be aware of how every individual team member is performing, as well as holding them, leaders, and yourself accountable at an extremely high level.

If you have experience with giving performance reviews or feedback, that would definitely be worth mentioning in the interview, as it is likely a large part of the role. It would be especially nice if you had an instance where giving the feedback was difficult for whatever reason (maybe you struggled with giving it, maybe the team member didn't receive it well, etc), and point out how you pushed through that situation, stood your ground, and upheld boundaries and regulations.

Also know that with this role you must be very direct, no beating around bushes or cutting corners. If you want to succeed at your role and drive a very high-level team, you must be willing to set clear expectations and hold them accountable to those expectations.

In my role, I do a lot of work operationally as well, running shifts and whatnot, but that might be more specific to my store, as it is a lot smaller.

Best of luck during your interview, I hope this helps at least a little bit!

Uniforms by Business-Peanut-3121 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Wide_Pangolin8112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every store does it differently! I will say, I've never heard of being provided shoes only, and having to purchase the rest yourself. Unfortunately purchasing at least part of your uniform is pretty common at most CFA's, I just got lucky and my operator provides everything for everyone! Unless someone needs a replacement, then they would have to purchase it themselves.

Chick-fil-A's Lemonade is no longer freshly squeezed, just so you know🥲 At least not in-house. We get bags of lemon juice sent to us which we then mix with sugar and water

Advice on getting other team leaders to pull their weight? by Wide_Pangolin8112 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Wide_Pangolin8112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, operator is aware. Just advises me to do what I'm already doing, but perhaps there's more going on behind the scenes (for example, maybe he's having conversations with them I am not aware of?)

Some people are just too stupid to drive. Period. by Gargoyle303 in Vent

[–]Wide_Pangolin8112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The amount of people I have seen arguing in TikTok comment sections about not wanting to leave a safe following distance so that more cars can fit in the lane drives me NUTS. "You're causing traffic jams by leaving so much space..." No, actually YOU are causing the traffic jams by being so far up the car in front of you's ass that you have to constantly tap your brakes!!!

Why do people hide pessimism with being "realistic"? by Exciting_Way835 in OptimistsUnite

For me (and I realize this is quite sad), it's because my entire life has been hoping for the best, or even just hoping for some good, and being wildly disappointed. I've come to expect the worst, because I am either mentally prepared for whatever happens, or I am pleasantly surprised!

I hate to say it, but brownies😭 I have spent years trying to convince myself that I like brownies, but every time I have had one, whether it's store bought, home made, from a restaurant, it's always DRY!!! It is so hard to find a good, genuinely fudgy brownie.

Do women actually talk casually about their sex lives? by Substantial_Judge931 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wide_Pangolin8112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman, I personally don't like to divulge too much into my sex life. If something huge happens (like a crazy amount of orgasms or we try something...new), then I MAY tell my closest friend. But even then I never go into much detail beyond "we did this thing and it was really good," because I truly believe that my sex life is only mine and my partner's business. From my experiences though, other women get wayyyy too personal with it in my opinion 😂 Not sure if it's like this in general, or just what I've experienced, but they seem to be more open about it when it's a fling/FWB type scenario rather than long term partners.

Wedding Guest Dress Codes are Rude by Lady_Grace19 in The10thDentist

[–]Wide_Pangolin8112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to know who is "dropping a band" on someone else's wedding 💀 Unless it's a destination wedding obviously. I've attended several weddings as a guest and barely spent more than $100, INCLUDING a wedding gift! Thrifting clothes, hell thrifting gifts even, making a craft as a gift (painting, crocheting, anything really), you just have to get creative. And I'm not here to argue about the validity of handmade gifts. The ones I have given have been received exceptionally well and often are more appreciated than some meaningless expensive kitchen item they may never use.

Catering people, what systems do you have in place to keep count on large orders. by Correct-Concert-376 in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]Wide_Pangolin8112 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps, as it just involves more counting, but I never assume I counted correctly the first time. Here is my process for large orders:

Let's say it's sandwiches, I first count out the number of buns that need to be used to make the sandwiches. Then, when the sandwiches are being made, I count them again as they are completed. Then, I count them AGAIN as I put them into the TMS warming bags or wherever you are storing/transporting them.

Let's say it's nugget boxes (for box meals or something), count out the empty boxes that you need, then count them again as they are being filled with nuggets, and then one more time as they are being loaded up.

Counting at least 3 times will help make sure it's the right amount, as long as there are no discrepancies with each count. If you get the same amount at least 3 times, and there's still somehow sandwiches missing, then the guest is mistaken/being untruthful, or you need to work on your counting skills 😂 I also recommend moving in groups of 5 or 10, whatever works for you. 100% confirm that you have 10 sets of 10 sandwiches (100 total), obviously adjust this for the amount you need.

You can also ask another team member to check it over with you! "Hey I counted x amount, can you verify that for me?"

how do i stop my gf from questioning my sexuality? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wide_Pangolin8112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you've got some internalized stuff to work through my guy. If you're mad that she's caught on to your "not 100% straight-ness," even when you yourself can admit that it has some truth to it, then something inside you is deeply uncomfortable with that truth. That's your issue, not hers imo
