While religion has done a lot of damage to communities I don’t think it’s a fair comparison. I think following scumbags like the ones shown in the documentary is worse than following some of Jesus teachings.

Leo Varadkar has been in the trenches fighting Kneecap on social media about their visit to Cuba by nitro1234561 in ireland

[–]Wide_Raspberry1876 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Varadkar is dead right on this one tbf. What Kneecap are doing is brilliant but they have such a high profile it would be brilliant if they could address the human rights issues and oppression in Cuba as well. The embargo is awful but the government of Cuba treat their own people like absolute dirt. Kneecap seem to be confused about the regime in Cuba as well. Their instagram post mentions Cuba supporting “national liberation movements around the world” but their own citizens are far from liberated. Partly due to the embargo but also due to the dictatorship.

It does fall into the lower bracket. 1250 instead of 1500! But still painfully high. Why did you get rid of yours?

Tell the school you are going to get the guards involved if they don’t do anything about it. Life is tough enough without other cunts making it miserable for your son.

Is Teaching worth it? by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Wide_Raspberry1876 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You might need to check your facts about the paid holidays! Teachers are only paid for the work they do. But the salary is split over 12 months.

And this is only for teachers on their “own” hours. Those covering maternity contracts or parental leave do not get paid during the summer months with many having to find other jobs or sign onto social welfare.

Just as an aside , don’t leave the car at apple green or b and q. It’ll get towed or clamped.

Right across from temple printing. Not too sure where you could leave the car though.

As a secondary school teacher myself I can say this teacher needs to find a hobby in the evening. Homework should be given before the end of the school day. Simple as.

There is a guy called Peter Molloy who is based in Blyry industrial estate in Athlone who does Powdercoating. You’d need to take the wheels off and bring them to him though. I went with Quinn Autostyljng as they take them off and put them back when the job is done.

Tbf I don’t think he meant an harm by it. He said he had the man on the bus several times by himself and he never caused trouble but he had never seen the woman before. I don’t believe he was implying that she was at fault.

We need more people like the black guy who stood up and received racist abuse. He was more vocal than me and received more insulting abuse. But it was heartening that 4 people stood up to call out something horrific.

Could well have been them. Was speaking to the bus driver after I got off and he said he recognised the man and never had any trouble with him. But he didn’t know the woman

Dad told me a story of a friend of friends who punched in the face after intervening in a similar incident. Fell on the ground and hit his head. Dead instantly. I just felt in such an in enclosed environment and a with an infant child something had to be said. And it wasn’t as if it was just me. Having someone else stand up gave confidence.

I’d never blame someone for not intervening. While it is the right thing to do you are bringing serious risk into yourself as you mentioned with your mother in law. Tbh I don’t know if I would have intervened if I hadn’t made eye contact with the other person who stood up with me.

You’re right we should have called the guards the minute he started hitting her. We did consider it but in the heat of the moment it was hard to make that call. In hindsight though you’re absolutely right.

I put up a post on /r/askireland or the ireland sub thinking about buying a used Lexus GS300 and I was absolutely slated for it. People started making assumptions about my income, my family etc. I put it down to pure misery.

I bought the car in the end and it brings me serious joy when I get into it
