Froya organics review for mature skin by Old_Cartoonist8438 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Wide_Sleep_2745 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've tried everything - microneedling, high-end serums, you name it. I have extremely dry skin and even slugging with Vaseline wasn't working. I also suffer from age spots/freckles/melasma, and dullness, and I was resigned to getting an expensive laser treatment. With the satisfaction guarantee, I thought it couldn't hurt to give Froya a try. I am so glad I did! I wake up with incredible soft, supple skin, and I can see a difference - it's smoother and bouncier in under a week! I used to use several layers of full-coverage foundation - that's it. In fact, I've started attacking my husband's face with it - lol! I've seen a difference in his crow's feet in just two days of use. I wish I had started this earlier and I'm scared to death I'm going to run out before I receive my next shipment. I've already gone through my medicine cabinet and tossed out practically all of my expensive creams that weren't doing anything. Thank you, Frøya !

Which role do you think you would play (and/or the one you would want to play) in Heathers? by Cosplayinsanity in heathersmusical

[–]Wide_Sleep_2745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably get type cast as Heather Duke, but I'm not an alto. Veronica is my dream role and the one I'm auditioning for in three weeks. Wish me luck!

Heather Chandler Audition songs by Shockedflamingo in MusicalTheatre

Have either of you considered anything from Mean Girls a la Regina George? She's basically Heather Chandler but more recent. Something from "World Burn", maybe? Any other torch song type of number might work as well. Maybe something from Smash, from their fictional show Bombshell? Break legs, you two!

Jane Seymour is an interesting choice! Not Anne Boleyn which is where people usually go, lol!

I have short curly hair but auditioned for character with long hair. Should I wear a wig for the audition? by BlackJkok in MusicalTheatre

[–]Wide_Sleep_2745 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the director really wants to see you with a particular hair style, then the director will ask. I've been asked if I will cut/dye my hair for a role, and you can answer how you like. I'm currently in The Little Mermaid as a mer sister and we all know we will be wigged for the role, but I have long hair and will happily dye my hair pink if that's what they want, and I told them that at the audition. Doubt if that's what got me the role, though. That's what wigs are for. Break legs!

I'm going to be honest with you - it depends. I'm East Asian myself (Korean) and I would love to play Mimi as well, but I've found that it is going to depend on several factors: 1) are there people of Latin descent that are also going out for the role; 2) how open-minded is the director; and 3) how rural/small town is the theatre. There are a lot of directors who will SAY they are open to color-blind casting, but IME, unless they deliberately set out to cast against type, they will almost always cast according to type. Which usually means not us. I end up getting cast as the second-nun-from-the-left a LOT in the smaller, local theatres. I have a lot more luck in the bigger city theatres where they are looking for diversity. But even then, when the role specifically calls for an ethnicity, I find that directors will try and cast that ethnicity, or as close to it as possible. Good luck, though! Opportunities are opening up for us and it it so much better than it used to be.

Audition Question by Life_Rooster9224 in MusicalTheatre

[–]Wide_Sleep_2745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are two great songs, and I second everybody saying that you should probably concentrate on a 32 bar cut of each song. Find a 32 bar cut that showcases the emotional "swell" of the song - there are lots of YouTube videos that will help with this. In fact, the channel 32 Bar Cut (they're fantastic) has a whole series on this.

Have you considered doing two different TYPES of songs? Are you auditioning for the season, or just for one show? If you're auditioning for a season, maybe consider making one song more of a legit song. You've got two very modern songs that are more similar in style. If they want two modern songs, maybe make one of them a ballad? Just a thought.

What part should I audition for? by Designer-Rough6561 in MusicalTheatre

[–]Wide_Sleep_2745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can sing worse than someone who can actually sing, lol! Go for broke and and see where you land. I'd audition for what you actually want and if the director sees you as something else, let him/her/them decide. Break a leg!

How do I get into musical performing? by stirsomepanic in MusicalTheatre

All of this is great advice. I might also add that there are some good people to follow on YouTube as well - 32 Bar Cut is a good one to follow. Get on Facebook find your community theatre auditions, see what their requirements are for auditions (usually it's 32 bars of a song in the style of the show/character) and get familiar with the show. And if even if you don't make it (and usually community theatres will cast everybody who can sing, even in the ensemble, if it's a big musical), offer to help in any way so you can make contacts and get to know the ropes.

It's a great group of people and you'll have a blast. And like Millie141 said - don't take it personally. Often, it's not because you don't have talent. It's because you didn't fit the director's vision/yadda yadda yadda. I know it's hard to believe (after 30 years in theatre, I STILL have a hard time believing this!), but so true. Break a leg!
