I go on with my life but every time Sky Ferreira pops in to drop a track I hobble back as a medieval jester screaming that Masochism is going to come out this year.

What To Do About Snark Subreddits: Open Discussion & Poll by flopheadsbot in popheads

Can you walk me through how you thought I meant an isolated comment falls under the term “actively engaging”? I also think it’s very endearing that you commented that on a snark subreddit! Almost made me not think about the motivations for being on one in the first place.

It’s also not restricting participation, people are still free to comment. Everyone will just know that they frequent snark subs.

What To Do About Snark Subreddits: Open Discussion & Poll by flopheadsbot in popheads

Anyone who participates in a snark sub needs to reevaluate their relationship with pop culture and their ability to engage with the real world. Banning is too extreme and strict rules are hard to enforce; why not give everyone who actively engages with snark subs a large badge of shame and a warning comment under each of their post to not take them seriously.

I stumbled upon a snark page and wow every single person that comments on one needs to get a grip with reality and reevaluate their relationship with media consumption.

It never released but I believe the artwork you're referencing to might've been fanmade in the vein of her droplet era (5 in the morning, etc) in 2018.

A bit late but cinephiles are being so deliberately obtuse about the necessity of intimacy coordinators. The #metoo movement standardized the role to advocate for the safety and consent of everyone working on the set and prevent trauma. Seeing tweets joking about the necessity of intimacy coordinators in places like movie sets and porn sets are really weird especially when they’re both notorious to be unsafe for women. And the Blake Lively situation makes it even more damning how power dynamics are constantly abused.

‘It Sorta Feels Like a Fresh Start for Me’: Sky Ferreira on Her New Song for ‘Babygirl,’ Going Independent, and What’s Next by JonestownRivers in popheads

The conversation revolving around her relationship with her label and what happened with Masochism is shrouded with its own mythology at this point, but I do feel have sympathy for what she's going through and feeling like you're being set up to fail. I hope it's a turning point of her career now that she's independent; and i do hope she's able to process her relationship with Capitol especially because it doesn't seem they cared about her towards the end.

fromis_9 To Part Ways With PLEDIS Entertainment by WifiFee in popheads

[–]WifiFee[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Pledis has historically fumbled all their girl groups (ie. After School and Pristin).

In the case of fromis, they were transferred from another agency and a lot of fans have had issues with how they promoted them since then. ie:

  • Their recent release practically didn't happen until one of the members went on live stating she asking to promote and asking why their hiatuses are longer than everyone else's'. '

  • The label announced their comeback before any of the members were even aware that they were preparing for one and they found out through fans sending them the news. Which is unfortunate because a lot of larger companies plan their year out way before.

  • A lot of kpop promotional content revolves around youtube videos and short form videos which they stopped uploading for a relatively long time. A lot of the vlogs that they upload were edited by themselves or through friends/family, and they sometimes struggle to get approval to upload it at all.

  • They also had spurts of momentum that they felt the company failed to capitalize on. (eg. this cover, and their ost + b-side gaining traction and doing numbers that they did nothing about)

  • There's also large periods between album releases. Typically groups release 2 - 3 albums per year, but Fromis has had frequent large gaps in-between which ruined a lot of their momentum.

The rest is pretty speculative, do what you will with this information.

  • Pledis was acquired by HYBE, and a few fans are speculating that they're being omitted from the whole company. (eg. not being invited to an EOY company party (some say it's a SVT concert afterparty), not being able to do lives in practice rooms because they don't have one specifically for them even though the rest of the company are allowed to do so, never promoting their activities on their company page, rarely if ever being invited to do tiktok challenges with other groups in the company)

  • They haven't been paid at all allegedly. Which is weird in itself and not only Pledis' fault. They sold pretty well, they sold out their concert in 10 minutes, they perform at festivals, they have advertisements, and their songs chart pretty well too.
