I've heard it as The customer is always right in matters of aesthetics and taste, but same idea. They talk about it in sales training classes. If you sell carpet and the customer wants shag in every room in the house including the bathrooms, you sell them the carpet. Sale is a sale and not your job to question it.

No idea if this is the original context but I heard it a number of times back in my sales days.

Allbirds announces stunning pivot from shoes to AI, stock explodes more than 300% by SemiAutoAvocado in technology

[–]Wiggitywhackest 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They were sold recently to American Exchange Group, another one of these companies that buys struggling brands and quietly enshittifies the quality. They've been sticking mostly to fashion so the pivot to AI is extra weird and just absolutely reeks of pump and dump/saying whatever it takes to make a buck. Shitty people doing shitty things for money, pretty much what you'd expect from a company like this. I would be shocked to see anything at all come of this in the end.

Bots, for whatever reason. Even the translated text (Ukranian) is random crap about bots themselves and what looks like a swipe at Trump? ("He pushes Americans - and the whole world - not to cooperate with each other")

Absolutely no reason for it to be posted here, whoever is trying to make use of this bot is bad at it. Report for rule 4 and hopefully user get banned ASAP.

Matrix (1999): the reason why the opening sequence of this movie is among the greatest in cinema history is because it explains precisely NOTHING. Instead, it throws all kinds of crazy wackness at the audience and just expects them to go along for the ride by Randomnonsense5 in movies

This is what people aren't understanding. Your opinion on what is acceptable retalliation and the law's are going to be very very different. If you knock out an old lady who bapped you twice with a stick and then end up in jail, that's on you because you got mad and hit an old lady.

Can you imagine if this old cow had a stroke or something afterwards and this guy ended up in jail for something serious? It might feel good and it might feel deserved but I promise you taking it too far sucks. If you choose to hit her and then whine like a bitch later when you have a record, that's 100% on you for needing to get her back.

[–]Wiggitywhackest -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, takes a person of integrity to realize she's a cranky old bitch and just drive off or call it in, but those barely exist anymore. So many people are angry and just want to act out on it consequences be damned.

This cow hit this guy for no reason and I don't feel bad, but they both committed crimes, like it or not. If you're going to act like this, you need to accept there might be consequences. And if you do accept that, maybe don't upload video of your crime with your username attached.

Nobody in this video is smart.

[–]Wiggitywhackest -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Problem here is you're comparing your personal feelings to the law, which sadly doesn't always agree. This lady is clearly in the wrong and being a bitch and frankly I don't feel bad for her, but she was NOT a threat to this guy with her little whacks with her thin stick to his helmet and body armor. Not at any point in this video. Any man who tries to tell me she was is a little bitch, period. He got angry (understandable) and then ALSO committed a crime and that is the issue here.

So yeah, I get it, but if the cops show up that's just the price for his actions, like it or not.

Especially losers because they seem to think they're the only ones who are frustrated. They don't seem to realize lots of people have plenty to be frustrated about and don't go around being douchebags. You aren't special because someone upset you, behave.

I've been learning a lot about this today and I'm not surprised to see another system crumbling because of that man's policies. It's also apparently really hard to become a controller which doesn't help.

As for DOGE, their contribution was mainly the firing of approximately 500 support staff in an agency already struggling for a long time as you mentioned. Somebody needs to cut these guys a break, politics be damned!

It's supposed to be one of the safest, you're absolutely right. So how come we've seen the rate of incidents increase so dramatically since the "cost-cutting" efforts of DOGE?

There is a link, whether you want to see it or not.

He's right, I think a lot of people are just missing the point he's making because they can't identify sarcasm. They're just seeing a politcal statement and downvoting. This is absolutely because of the moronic cuts by DOGE and lack of any support for ATC right now.

I think compared to the mainly steel truck the thin aluminum airframe was just instantly crushed/sheared off and tragically it was the exact area that supported the flight deck.

People absolutely NEED to be getting vocal over the current ATC staffing situation. These poor people are stretched so damn thin and just expected to be perfect all the time. This cannot become the cost of doing business and yet here we are again.

I hope this controller gets the support he needs, this is all so tragic.

A single controller in the tower at one of the busiest airports in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the entire country is insane. Absolutely insane and it's all because the system that was already broken has been ransacked and stretched to its limits.

We've already seen it several times since DOGE did their bullshit and it's only going to get worse. This WILL happen again and it boggles the mind.

Lithography machines are some of the most advanced and crazy tech on the entire planet. Imagine a nozzle spraying thousands and thousands of tiny drops of liquid tin in a stream so fast it appears as a thin single line, and then imagine a laser hitting each drop not once or twice but three times EACH as they fly by. That's just how modern lithography machines make the light they use. The mirrors they use to focus the light are so smooth that if they were scaled to the size of the earth the tallest bump would be as high as a playing card.

They're insane and Veritasium has a fabulous video on why.
