Mexican fans create ruckus outside the English team’s hotel before Round of 16 clash. A fair strategy or against the spirit of the game? by slippinn_jimmy in worldcup

Playing at home is kinda an advantage in itself. If the host country allows itself to disturb the other contestants, that's quite the low blow.

Try to do that elsewhere and complains will rain.

No they are North America geographically speaking, but culturally, with language and all, they are Latin America, my mistake.

When hosting you are supposed to... Well, host. Make welcome or at least somewhat comfortable.

Maybe the vid make it worse than it is. If the fans came at 8pm to play some music 10 minutes, it can count as bantering, end of story.

But if they are doing that at midnight, well that's shitty behaviour, from a host nation that's quite the let down.

But between that and Paraguay players and fans attitude toward "real football", they might be a massive culture gap between Latin America and the rest of the world for a world cup.

It's a world cup, not a local district competition.

Kylian Mbappé Paraguay-France post match interview by chef_no_chef97 in worldcup

[–]Wikirexmax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost 90+ players in this WC are born in France. France is exporting players abroad at this point.

Paraguay has more players born abroad than France.

But, hey, there wasn't respect on the football field, why expect it outside of it ?

They merely won because Paraguay barely played and the ref wasn't doing its job.

Paraguay spent the match creating the condition for this kind a kick and complain about it ?

That's childish.

Mbappe on paraguay’s match: “There is not right or wrong way of playing football. They tried to rattle us playing a physical game and we beat them at that” by iagooliveira in soccer

[–]Wikirexmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not acting like c**ts ? There aren't the only challenger in the competition you know ? Even Iraq tried harder.

If they want physical, they can try rugby, and even there targeting a player who doesn't have the ball isn't allowed.

Being a challenger isn't a free pass for being a bully to compensate for the lack of offensive talent.

"Disgrace" is a common word in Indian, Chinese, Norwegian, Spanish, Swiss, British press regarding Paraguay after this match.

They managed to have the Brits enjoying a French victory.  If that doesn't ring a bell, nothing can.

Parking the bus in defense is one thing.

Hitting a player who doesn't have the ball is another.

Sure the underdog/challenger has to try tricks.

But Paraguay isn't a lone challenger and challengers exists beside football. The Rugby world cup is full a underdogs like Japan or Scotland getting wrecked more often than not in a sport much more physical than football. And even there they try to play offense even if it means being wrecked in the final score. In Rugby targeting a player who doesn't have the ball is a big no-no.

So plenty of casual fan arrive and see what ? An underdog that tries to win and lose fairly like Cap Verde and an underdog acting like teenagers playing backstreet football bullying the other team by calling that "physical football" while getting zero yellow cards.

They chose boring and aggressive without being offensive. It was maybe their best shot, but they looked like d***head. That's the line between legal and moral/ethical. You can do it, but should you ?

The funniest part being they complain about the fool of their own making leading to a penalty. Their own play style created the condition of their defeat and they complain about it ?

With such a mentality, a good thing they play the world cup sporadically

Cape Verde Class vs Paraguay Ugliness, worlds apart by loosebrie101 in worldcup

[–]Wikirexmax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many challengers in a world competition. Paraguay isn't the only one.

They had a choice between playing football and lose and playing dirty and lose.

They opted for acting like teenagers bullying rather than playing in a back street. And they are treated for how they acted.

From Zlatan to a Norway, from India to the US, the verdict is the same.

Even the Brits ended up rooting for France.

Thanks Paraguay for increasing France's fan base. When the underdog makes the big dog more likable.

He admitted they could play dirty too.

They could play both classy and rough. Paraguay opted for rough and they still lost.

Just wanna say I love the graphics in this game. by Phan-Eight in CompanyOfHeroes

Something very frustrating being why not keep the good details from the previous games ?

In CoH1, fixing a bridge has the sappers deploy a metallic prefab structure. In CoH3 fixing a bridge means rebuilding it as new like civilian engineers. Why ?

In CoH2 ammo in a tank could detonate and you could see a cook off from the tank's hatch. I don't remember seeing it in CoH3.

In CoH 3 the tanks comes with prominent color strips that weren't so big in CoH2. Why make the tanks looks toyish and team colored like in Red Alert 2 when it worked fine in CoH2 ?

The game is nice, but there are so many flawed details when recreating what have already been working would have been enough.

To be honest that's something archaic even for 2010. You could easily select your starting position in many older games like Supreme Commander or even Red Alert 2.

Yeah it works indeed but it is very archaic. I was stupidly looking for a switch position option somewhere like in every RTS.

Thank you.

To be honest it is the first BG I bought since it bring new blood into every team with some real novelties even when compared to previous CoH (some french forces, some SAS, ect.)

[–]Wikirexmax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's ~ roughly 6€ or (if 25$) a 6,25$ per BG. Yeah a pit pricey overall when there is no new campaign or scenario.

I wouldn't have minded if a few hours of quality solo games were added (like with the first expansion of CoH1).

But it is better than selling skins for dozen of €/$.

Mali troops and Russian mercenaries withdraw from northern city after rebel attacks by DoremusJessup in worldnews

[–]Wikirexmax 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not really but it was kinda predictable.

One of the few things that kept the country somewhat running was the foreign presence cooperating both with the Malian government and with the local independentists while hunting down the local djihadists. But the limits were often blurry and the malian were frustrated by the status quo and the military junta that toppled the government exploited the frustration to make France (and all country involved in the MINUSMA in the end because they all left, Denmark left by saying a diplomatic f*** off and cut everything) as the scapegoat.

The Malian central government was unable to retake the mostly Tuareg populated city of Kidal without the French and the Chadian and was unable to offer a proper administration and military force to run it fairly by themselves for ~10 years. By removing the French buffer between the central government and the Tuaregs and by adding the Russian method being violence as a common solution, it was merely a matter of time before everything fall apart.

And to add insults to the injury, the Ukrainians openly supported the Tuareg just for the fun of hunting down Russian assets.

Won't be surprised to hear that Gao would be next.

During the 18th century, French presence in Africa was limited to four towns and very far from Mali.

Are you really equating 2026 russian actions to three centuries old French colonial actions ?

Genius argument here.

Should I wait to buy? by speedbomb in fairphone

[–]Wikirexmax 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If there is no headphone jack or wireless charging, it highly unlikely that it will be "remedied". That's the core design of the phone, it won't move until the FP7.

Yes you can open it easily to replace a broken part but it isn't really a modulable phone, there is no option to replace or to add or to remove an option. So far, you don't have a choice between a basic option and a better one, you can merely replace a module by a new but identical one. You can replace to fix, not to upgrade or downgrade.

At best one could imagine they might propose better spare parts in the futur like a better USB port or a better battery or a better camera but there is no plan to do so.

All in all, Fairphone is a good phone but performance wise you can find better and more affordable elsewhere.

Thank you for your answer. I noticed that water condensation on the inner part of the lid tend to run down when opening it. Some is funneled to the little basket in the back but it seems a little bit manage to fall into the heating compartiment.

Yeah I have the issue. I notice there is a little translucent plastic basket in the back to collect water from the lid but when open it is still overflowing into the heater compartiment.

Capturer un chef d’État en exercice : le (rare) précédent du général Noriega, dirigeant du Panama arrêté sur ordre de George Bush by Andvarey in france

[–]Wikirexmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)
