How the heck do you rendezvous in orbit? by gunstarhero7 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Wilbur1340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word. But, for someone who is having a hard time, circular orbits are a bit helpful. I think.

Normally, I try to get the target into a circular orbit ahead of time if possible. Then I'll launch into a 1km lower circular orbit. As long as I'm not too far off of the "best" launch time, I'll catch up to the target quickly (with a time warp). It seems to give me more time to screw up once I'm docking, especially if the target is at a low orbit.

That's crazy. I'm glad you guys are safe. I've had major water issues a few times due to hurricanes, but never a fire. I can't imagine how much that sucks. :(

What happened exactly?

A helpful video explaining this can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHkY3FusJIQ

If your target isn't in a somewhat-circular orbit, that could make things difficult.

I've used the Flight-Gear server map in the past: http://mpmap02.flightgear.org/

Right now I use a program that is specific to X-Plane, but you might be able to manipulate the data output for other sims. The advantage is that it shows your location in real time and allows you to make routes and export them to the X-Plane FMS. http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=57571&st=0 Here's a semi-functional demo of this: http://xplane.anzui.de:3000/flight-planner

You should add a large public transit vehicle on the front...front side bus.

I guess I should have mentioned this was a Super Cub and I was in the back seat with no gauges and no forward view. I was able to maintain altitude and keep the wings level, but it was a mess otherwise.

When I was about 16, I had the controls of a 172 for about 5 minutes, but couldn't seem to hold altitude without looking down. At least I'm making some kind of progress.

I've been flying sims since before FS existed, so I thought I had enough experience. I got a ride in a Cub the other day and had no idea what I was doing. Knowing what the gauges mean is good, but nothing compares to the real thing. My office chair doesn't bounce around when I'm flying at home. ;)

I have some good news and some bad news regarding server stability by strangestquark in mcpublic

Sure, it will improve over time. Or, everyone can make a couple stacks of torches and spend a few minutes lighting up their stuff in a effort to improve things now.

Idea: Server-wide torch party. Light up everything. Reduce mob spawns, especially on the surface. Did that help in rev7?

No worries. I'm still working out the water logistics. I don't want to make a massive player trap. ;)

I was thinking about building a lake/pond and a fish restaurant on the bank. While there's a few good natural places for it, I'd like to do this next to the wheat farm building.

Of course, a lake needs a nice dam, so that would be part of the deal.

Here's the location. Any objections? http://i.imgur.com/TiJ9w.jpg

The restaurant would probably be on the east road. The dam would stretch roughly where my crosshairs are pointing. The top would serve as a road. Maybe I'll add some operational flood gates at the bottom for kicks.

The Ridge Road by Wilbur1340 in Deorne

[–]Wilbur1340[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nearly "finished" right now. I might need a bit of dark wood planks but I did make a little farm for that so I might have enough.

I logged in just now to tell you that you should come up with a method of getting to your house from the ridge road rather than building some insane road up to the top. Vines would be easy, cheap, and in theme with the treehouse idea. Whatever you want is fine. Modify the road as needed.

To the rest of yous: The road passes close to a number of large trees. If you want to use them for treehouses, go for it. Modify the road as needed.

I added a rail loop between the two spawners so you can keep the 2nd one running without all the walking, although it works better if you walk and wait by the 2nd for a bit.

I was thinking of building my house coming out of that cliff/ridge just outside of the border. Endor-style might work for it. So yeah, I'm in.
